Been in York today wearing my Hull City polo shirt. A Newcastle Utd fan came up to me in the pub and said Curtis Davies is in Newcastle having a medical. Then a bloke on the street selling Joke Mags stopped me and said Steve Bruce is going to be Southampton's next manager, I asked if he'd got that out of his joke book. Stood next to a bloke wearing a Hull FC shirt outside one pub and he never said a word to me, and I didn't to him.
I'm guessing Fryatt will be on his way. If he was staying surely it would have been sorted by now. Shame that, a very dependable option to fall back on.
It has dragged it's feet this new deal hasn't it? Possibly more about the game time than the money. If he does go, I'd like to see him replaced by a young player with potential from the lower leagues.
The Dudgeon and Jakupovic deals are still ongoing too, but I don't think we should assume any of them are leaving just yet. We obviously intend to keep them all, it's just whether they want to stay or not.
Aye but the Fryatt deal is the most high profile due to the apparent demand for him. SB said publicly that he wasn't really after another striker providing Matty signed another deal so it's strange it's dragging.
Our salary offer wasnt high enough for him. It was in an article somewhere that it had nothing to do with him not wanting to sign and everything to do with how much we offered him per week.
I'd be disappointed to lose Fryatt, I think a striker of similar ability will cost the club, so we'll undoubtedly have to use a part of the transfer budget that was probably unexpected. So where do we cut spending in other areas?
If we were ever really in for Sidwell it looks like he is going to sign for Stoke tomorrow. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2652301/Stoke-talks-free-agent-Steve-Sidwell.html
That's not necessarily true though remember. Seems like an easy thing to make up if you're a reporter who has no idea.
According to Sky, Fryatt rejected our offer last week and is currently in talks with Forest... http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/
