We took a lot of grief last season from Hull regarding our shirt change and shock horror maybe even a name change. Their owners were good Hull people who had the the heart and best of tradition of the club at heart.

Well goodbye Hull City AFC and all welcome the The Hull City Tigers roller disco to the PL.

OK I added the roller disco bit but it doesn;t look ridiculous on the end of that name.

For the record I have no issue with the Hull lot on the whole and enjoyed our conversation and was glad to see them come up with us.
It's just a comment on how easy it is to preach but ultimately the rich guys own 'our' football cubs and rich guys tend to do whatever they want to do.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, I honestly hope they don't tear the own club to bits fighting over this as IMO the rich guy will win. Having said that if there is massive Blackburn style unrest that's probably one of the relegation spots filled and we just need to find 2 others to finish above......

Oh dear, I mentioned, a bit tongue in cheek, a few weeks ago about clubs adopting names like they have done in rugby league. Hull seem to have picked up on it.
I realise their nickname is The Tigers but is this a good or bad thing for Hull. Is it the start of other clubs adopting their nickname into the club or a new name all together?

Assuming this goes ahead, how long before VT pushes to make us Cardiif City Dragons?

I think he would be wise to assess the scale of reaction at Hull before going down this road and after the debacle of the way the colour change was done then consultation with supporters groups before making any changes is essential.

On a lighter note how about name change suggestions for other teams. Keep it clean, no swearing, sexual or racist undertones. <whistle>

To kick off how about Newcastle United Giros, Liverpool Hubcaps, Coventry City Homeless (might be a temporary change), Manchester United London, Chelsea Oligarchs and Stoke City Hoofers.

Outrageous.
Hope it does not come off.
Hope Hull fans kick up an almighty fuss
Reminds me of when swansea Town became swansea City <whistle>

Steady now Ninion :emoticon-0125-mmm:
Not sure why Hull have done this really - my guess they are in a strong RL area and it may be their way of trying to merge and grow support across both sports.

Love the way you steered away from the most obvious one <laugh> <laugh> <laugh>

We were told 3 weeks ago this change would not happen and our odious owner

Says, 'city' is too common and not good for business basically

This will set a dangerous precedent and more foreign owners might follow suit... It's disgusting these clubs have been around for more than 100 years

I think next year we will become 'hull tigers'

It's not a rugby league thing, we get more crowds than both of them combined

Our owner fell out with the coucil regarding our stadium and he has stated plans aboht moving us 20 mikes out the city to melton

He's a horrible little man, just becase he saved us from going under doesn't mean he can play with the club like a toy

Sadly this isn't the case at present as we've found out. I think the league should prehaps look at protecting names and home shirt colour. I'm not saying they can't change, just that there should be a planning permission style style system to stop what seems like toying with the club.
Things like tradition, fan opinion could all be taken into account as part of that process, I would say that the commercial interests of the owner should still take precident but they'd have to show evidence for the need to change to take the club forward.

Thanks Brady

We, of all clubs, understand your concerns. If there are some things new foreign owners don't seem to understand they are the need to respect, consult with and listen to the supporters of their club. There will always be a middle road to keep both sides in the loop and relatively happy. However to make shoot from the hip arbitrary decisions just upsets most and can have a very negative effect on the club - not what you want or need in your first season back in the Prem.

Good luck with whatever you do to further your cause but most importantly, keep supporting your team.
