I have been in many other 'chaotic' situations in Hull, Boothferry Park had many when 40,000 or so piled out of the ground, Hull Fair was another, and the opening of the Humber Bridge brought things to a standstill, so yes I expected it to be busy, but I think the whole C o C things has caught a lot of people by surprise. The opening presentations were beyond expectations, and if the momentum can be maintained then I expect many more chaotic situations. But it doesn't take much to creat chaos in the centre of Hull unfortunately, an accident on any of the roads leading into, or out of, the city centre, especially during a rush hour, and we have instant gridlock, East, West and North of the city. I have also been held up leaving work at 10pm when City have played a match at the KC and on one occasion the police, in their wisdom, stopped all traffice to allow Spurs supporters and their team coaches, unencombered access from the KC to Clive Sullivan Way in detriment to all other road users, lets say many where not pleased. I suppose we should be greatful that Victoria Square is mainly complete, goodness knows what would have been the situation with all of those orange barriers still in place.
A bit worried that a group of pissheads could get this thing swaying and someone could get hurt. Thought it was beyond the reach of the public tbh.
(hostage to fortune but...) Around the same time someone signs the Lil Bilocca mural on Anlaby Road. Oh hang on, that's been there over ten months now and is as yet unsigned, despite similar naysayer posts appearing on here when it was unveiled. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
75k was the figure I was given, but that was only at about 8.30pm on the Saturday. I had it confirmed today that the figure was actually officially 102,000!
Back on thread. The blade really is a powerful image. Placed in front of a Maritime Museum that has a full sized whale skeleton on display inside, a beautiful giant from Hulls past, with a giant from the future of Hull on display outside. It works for me.
