Good list, remember a lot of the local punk support bands on it, Z Men, Defectors, SOTP, Corrosive Infants etc. Other missing gigs from the era Bauhaus at Tower, Southern Death Cult, Cockney Rejects. Killing Joke definitely played Spring Street as well as Welly.
I bet more turned out for the Roses than the Dooleys, they performed on a Monday night and there was more in the band than watching, one of the sisters singing took a shine to me and kept looking at me whilst singing, I was mortified, she wasn't pretty
Killing Joke @ Spring Street in 1983 was originally supposed to be at Dingwalls but was relocated when the latter closed. http://www.hullmusicarchive.co.uk/venue-dingwalls/
Vera Duckworth (or whatever her singing name was) at Melton Sporting club. Though she pulled a last minute sickie.
Can't remember any bands at welly club, there's lots of things from the late 70's early 80's i can't remember though, all in all it was great time for the music and pub scene. Do recall at welly they showed old black and white cartoons projected on the wall.
Was in the Georgian pub the one on George Street, one Friday night, way back when, someone came in and said Thin Lizzy where playing at Hull College. Sure enough they were. Phil Lynott was on the comeback trail and had a new band around him, great night, great band
The Beat at welly seems to be missing off this list as well, and no mention of Sham 69 playing Withernsea Pavillion the same night the angelic upstarts played at welly.
Remember seeing this lot at Dingwalls before it shut:- Sisters of Mercy Damned Eurythmics Orange Juice Richard Hell & The Voidoids (touring 'Destiny Street' LP) with the wonderful Robert Quine on guitar). And I also saw John Cooper Clarke competing against the monotonous thudding from the next door Odyssey nightclub, which I believe burnt down soon after that.
