Not forgetting that Prestcott also said 'Hull's culture is fish and chips and rugby league' Thanks John.

We had several of them working for us at the Folk and Maritime Festival in July. They did and great job and were very professional and engaging.

Stop being negative, CC. Just because we might not see that in Hull doesn't mean we can't feel positive about stuff.

Does anyone think that the big TV should not have been taken away and would have been a good addition come 2017?

It was a horrible monstrosity and any excuse to get rid of it was a good one.

    I don't agree.
It could have been used as a way of drawing people into the city centre which, at the time certainly, was a priority
The area around it needed changing to suit though, which cafes and outside seating

So Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol and Coventry amongst others have got it wrong and Hull have it right?

Humberside Plod get in a panic at the thought of crowds of people gathering in the city centre.
Cafes with outside seating are dangerous, a menace to the visually impaired and restricts access to those with mobility issues. According to the powers that be in Hull. Not a problem all over Europe however.

I agree with you. They have one in MIllennium Square Leeds and they show live sport on it to massive crowds. It works a treat and I've never heard anyone describe it as a monstrosity.

If Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol and Coventry had all stuck theirs on stilts in a ****e position, then they would also have got it wrong, but they didn't.

At least I assume they didn't, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow are on the sides of buildings, I've no idea about Bristol or Coventry, I've not seen them.

The TV was a great idea badly implemented. The cost of it was also significantly exaggerated by the local media. It's a shame it failed.

They needn't have worried, there wasn't a single cafe within 100 feet of ours. <laugh>

As renegade wrote, a good idea badly implemented. Though, admittedly, that is hard to believe of a Hull council.

If you'd said the problem was that it was on stilts in a ****e position then I might have agreed with you.

I always felt it should have been in Queens Gardens.

makes far more sense to hire one in like they had to do for Fc's homecoming, Freedom Festival and so on, not.
Thought the big screen was given to HKR ? Will they still need it in the pub league ?
