It was very good. Totally immersive. You're not going to see something, you're going to be in something.
Had a really enjoyable night last night (apart from the early rain), following the "Les Girafes" from King Edward square (outside McDonalds), all the way to Trinity Square. It took nearly two hours, included a randy clown, who started with a wife, then got off with another woman (at one point he had her blouse open and was literally almost banging her on top of his drum). His wife then appeared to catch him with his bit on the side and shot him. This was all played out with many large puppeteered Giraffes, which were excellent. The clown starting off by dreaming about giraffes. The whole thing was bizarre, but brilliantly entertaining. One of our gang who has not got a cultured bone in his body watched the entire two hours without chuntering. The only thing I didn't like was the huge explosions, they were literally oil drum barrel size full of explosives and ticker tape. My ears still hurt today. Video I uploaded onto Twitter below, of the giraffes arrival into Trinity Square, after coming down Whitefriargate and passing all the pubs on Trinity St. Really good night, well done to all involved.
I went for a walk round town and Marina at 6 tonight absolutely nothing happened in Queens Gardens, Vicky Square or marina aside from some twats blowing paper in the air, and a fat lass singing at pier, and oh some blokes on bikes playing funk which sounded good but because they was sat on bikes and a big crowd surrounded them, I walked on by. Walked away by 7, and yes I know stuff is going on now but I was there at 6 and it was ****, culture my arse
Moaning old fecker! FG Johnson has sod all on you. ;-) The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine
I'm out tonight and I must say it is ****e. It's just a beer bar food bar thing. Really disappointed in fact I've gone away and gone in Bourbon Craft
You might be correct but tonight was poor. Now don't get me wrong I like a few beers but it's just a lash up.
Had a wander round the Freedom Festival yesterday afternoon, early evening, good to see so many people out enjoying themselves.
Plenty going on during the afternoon. Happy people , sunny day , perhaps we have been spoilt this year. Shame if it died in the evening.
Its in a secret location somewhere in the vicinity of the minister. It's a tour of the offices of Korean company Kasang. You get to try out their new technologies. There are elements of the rise in democracy in Korea and the sacrifices made by people for that in the past.
Five friggin pound for a pint of pi$$ and seven for a semi warm burger was the remark from my mate this morning. Glad I gave it a miss.
Your night may have been poor, our six hours there yesterday was a veritable cornucopia of culture, along with 'refreshments' in Admiral of the Humber, Minerva and Humber Dock Tavern. We took the precaution of seeing what was on, and at what time, and the highlight for us was the fantastic tightrope routine. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I think with Freedom Festival you have to work a bit harder planning actually A few years ago it was becoming too music focussed IMHO and felt like another Sesh, but it's changed now and it is more art focussed That means you need to spend more time finding out what you're interested in, where it is, when it is, and even getting tickets for things even when they're free I didn't do much this year, but did pop in on Saturday night, but made sure I knew what time things that I was interested were on, rather than Sesh where there will be something on every stage permanently. I enjoyed what I did anyway, and the atmosphere was really good
