    to clarify - when the Allams took over, the disabled were charged 50% whether they were accompanied by a carer or not - if they were accompanied the carer had to pay full price - the Allams made the decision to increase the charge for the disabled to full price - which got no sympathy off most fans who claimed at the time that disabled people received more in benefits, may already have a job etc so why shouldn't they pay full price - so it went through with not much protest - however, at the same time the carer got a free ticket - so if a disabled supporter went unaccompanied they would pay more under the new system but if they were accompanied they would pay less between the two of them - so its disabled supporters, who meet the criteria for being disabled pay full price and carer gets in for free

    Exactly right. Different authorities have their own rules - yet they are obliged to accept the passes from any visitor's authority. For example Londoners (who get their passes at 60) can use their passes to get free transport in the Hull area even though locals don't get theirs until state pension age. Another example of the North subsidising the South.
