To be honest I hate listening to or telling stories. The internet is a lot more suited to that. When I'm with people I find it a lot easier to just come out with random rubbish. A mate of mine visited me in London and we hadn't seen each other for about 15-20 years. We immediately started acting like we'd last met each other at the pub the night before. We didn't ask about jobs or if he was still married. It was all about him saying he liked London because he can jump over the barriers at the tube without paying and us asking girls if they'd come home with us after chatting for a couple of minutes - no, it still doesn't work!
Ha. Good call and agreed. That’s definitely gonna change the way I read Pete’s posts from now on.
Personally, I’m pretty adverse to people telling me jokes (set up – punchline type) – just feels awkward.
He stopped going to City in the 1970s and became a Hull FC fanatic. A few years ago Gary saw him and said hello and George just looked and said who are you? Gary said who he was and asked didn't he remember him from City games. George replied he had never been to Hull City. Unbelieveable! And slightly let down by the fact he has Hull City tattooed across his fingers.
49 years for me watching Hull City , since my dad first took me to Boothferry Park. Been taking my 2 nieces on and off the last couple of seasons, this season they have got there first season passes. We all have to start sometime and I consider the Junior Tigers as big a fans as me. First time I took them when city scored every fan in the east stand jumped up to celebrate a goal, The 2 junior tigers stayed sat down as they didn't realise everyone leaps up when we score...was really funny. On to city v Cardiff with both junior tigers stood on there seats leaping about and waving City Flag singing we are going up. Brings back memories of when my dad first took me. Oldest one says she likes being in west stand upper the best...youngest one likes East stand best... Bought my season card for e3 my usual place but then thought sod it the junior Tigers need season cards.. Only place in east stand with 3 seats together was e1, but near the bottom. What I always hated was been laughed at by twats at school back in the late 60's early 70's because I supported City and they ' supported Leeds ' Yet they had never even been to bloody Leeds., kids born in hull with no links to Leeds. Guess that's why I hate East Yorkshire Whites born in Hull. Can't stand OPE reds either... Me thinks people should support there home town / city club.
Met his daughter in town this morning and wished her all the best in her most recent venture, and She;'s done real well for herself after her difficult past, and plenty of folk were wishing her success..
Am I being whooooshed here?? She was stood near City Hall and we had a free-to- air chat. Had I known, I would have eschewed my favoured cagoule for something less 'Last of the Summer Wine'. I wished her good luck in breaking the prevailing local political hegemony and we left it there..
She her on Sky tv the Pledge program now and then, the nicest thing is that she doesn't hide her past, often mentions it, the good bad and the ugly.
I knew Trevor in the late 80s. He also used to record (with pen and paper) the top 40 singles each week. Presumably moved it on to computer at some point.
Andy Medcalf was at Stafford University when he first came up with the idea of Hull, Hell & Happiness (along with a kid called Ian Websdale, a City fan from Stafford whose family were originally from Hull if I remember correctly?). By the time the first issue came out (September '88), Andy was back up north at my place of work, where we produced the first issue via the office copier during a "productive" lunch hour!
The HCSS website was updated a couple of years ago with a lengthy "history" section. You are mentioned in the second paragraph. Hope that resolved your previous dissatisfaction. HCSS is the longest standing supporters' group dedicated to City by some distance. Something to be proud of. https://www.hcss.org.uk/hcss-history/
