I’m no snob but Listening to witnesses who’ve sent in videos, there’s some right chavs knocking about town! [HASHTAG]#maaaate[/HASHTAG] :emoticon-0114-dull:

Funny how people can assume so much from hearing an accent or their lexicon.

Funny how it's seen as fine to trash the working classes.

You expect this accent/region snobbery from those in the south of the country. Some of it based on traditional cockney boastfulness and some of it vicious entrenched Establishment loathing of the lower orders up north.

When one hears these views echoed, albeit diluted, from people nearer to home, it's disappointing. I've only discovered in recent years how much the fur coat and knickers brigade of the ER have inadvertently started to parrot this mantra.

It's no use you ER poshos, folk down south think you're ****s too.

In my experience, a great number of ER folk are petty snobs, not very bright, rather simple people, unsophisticated, not very witty or good joke tellers who seek to distance themselves from Hull, as if that will somehow give them extra cachet.

Of course some ER folk are spot on, but this farcical Hyacinth Boucquet strain of snobbery among others is laughable.

Parrot this mantra??? FFS???

Ah, I came into town earlier and hadn’t realised that buses being all over Ferensway and King Edward Street being shut off were linked.

I’m from East Riding
I am indeed simple...although even in know the phrase is ‘fur coat and NO knickers’

People who wear fur knickers are an entirely different bunch

Anyone who starts a conversation with MATE deserves everything thrown at them! Lexicon? Great album ABC eh? :emoticon-0137-clapp

That's most Aussies/Kiwis/Cockneys then.

The ER folk live in awe of the well educated, bright and witty folk in Hull.
