I thought that was the whole idea, to rent out your own place for a few days whilst you are away in someone else's AirBNB. Some are making a whole business from it but without all the taxes, regulations, controls and staff of a real hotel. Here is one that went wrong for the owner. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...llers-huge-speakers-trash-2m-Airbnb-flat.html
You're right I think that was the original idea but it's grown into something completely different now. I've heard of people buying up or building apartment blocks to put on the AirBnB market. It's coming under a lot of scrutiny now by tax authorities.
Down whitefriargate yesterday and they appeared to be putting a back rest on one of these style benches... please log in to view this image Which I thought a little odd.
I think you'll get tenants trying to do that. The one we rented in Switzerland was one of some rich financial city kids investment homes.
One of my sources informed me at weekend that there are plans afoot for Kingston House on Bond Street to be turned into a hotel. Questions about the ability of the person involved in wanting to do this actually being able to see a project of this size through, but positive nonetheless as that is a big, empty, ugly bugger of a building. Clad that **** up.
There's been a rumour about it being converted to a hotel for a while, but nothing seems to materialise. It was going to be converted to a hotel in 2015, then in 2016 it was going to be 101 apartments, then it all went quiet again. As you say, it's proper ugly.
I'd like to the see the lower sections of Kingston House removed. That way it would open up the Maltings which has some nice buildings inside.
I would have thought that it was cheaper to demolish and replace, than it is to convert, as a building it has absolutely no redeeming features.
I think the Edwin Davis does have some redeeming features, I think done right it could be an excellent building, it's problem is that doing it right will cost more than the building will be worth.
A lot of people aren't, several of my friends had thought AirB&B is a chain of B&B hotels, hence my comment.
The place that the Mrs stayed was the same, perfume out in bedrooms, kids toys dotted around Even had their passports on the side!
He reckons quotes have come in for all sorts of bits and bobs to start the thing off, all in the last fortnight or so, but nothing concrete. Specifically for a hotel. I think there's some concern about it though.
Ah, I liked the design before, something different, and now with the Venn acknowledgement it tops it off perfectly. Good stuff. Someone who doesn't know the connection to our City but knows Venn Diagrams will have an "Ahh" moment when they see that. Cool.
Shame Manor Properties never got the Radisson Blu knocked up over the bridge on the East Bank, it could have had complementing Venn interior decor.
