Old joke before Dutch jumps in snotty waiter: do you have reservations sir? Yes, but we’re willing to give it a try budum tush
Freetown Way going back to two lanes, each way....hallelujah....hallelujah....hallelujah. Ps..just read earlier post.
Ex leader and closet Arsenal fan, but now a City fan, Daren Hale claiming credit for this in todays Billy Liar. Although wasn't it his party that introduced this **** up in the first place ?
100% Labour...I think Hale said something on the lines of: 'we didn't have to pay a penny for this. Its all central government money.' Still didn't make it a good idea. When I chatted briefly to the Hale, he came across as a decent bloke, but not from these parts. Was he bused in by central Labour casting to teach us scum how to run our city? I've no truck with those LibDems but understand Ross is a local guy, but could be wrong.
Hopefully I haven’t looked but surely the path is wide enough for cyclists and pedestrians, even if expanded a small amount? Actually there’s loads of places like that (Castle Hill Rd, I think it’s called, going into Cottingham for example, where there’s a really wide pavement but they tried to shoehorn a cycle path onto the road instead so now it’s not wide enough for two lanes without driving into the cycle path)
Know of Hale and to be fair he comes across as a decent bloke. Personally I believe his parties policy and attitude to the opposition of bus lanes, cycle lanes and road works cost them the leadership of the city but.... Seen him at City too, East Stand. Lives down the Avenues, the one which was completely resurfaced on the back of the £900k hand out for a new cycle track from town to Cottingham, which still isn't finished, but his road is. Hails ( see what I did there) from That London, folk who know him tell me he is very left wing. As for the local Liberals ? Opportunists who never miss a photo opportunity, ie; councillor with a bin bag, or pointing at a cracked pavement etc, appear to promise a lot but do very little. I had to make a public apology to one of them a few years back after I said in a community blog that I doubted something they promised for the area would happen. It never happened but I still had to apologise. Also the same, now long gone, Lib councillor, voted against building the stadium, as did her party, but her name appears on the plaque outside alongside those who did put the effort in to see it built.
They spent fortunes(several million) a couple of years back in narrowing the road in Sauchiehall St,Glasgow and creating a cycle path on the wider pavement. It's clearly marked as a cycle path to those of us fortunate enough to have the gift of vision but here's the problem....There is no clear distinction between it and the normal footpath for members of the public who are blind!!! These white sticks they use nowadays with the ball type thing on the end can't detect a ridge or bump in the pavement to ensure they're not encroaching onto a dangerous cycle lane. With the amount of Deliveroo and Just Eat maniacs bombing around delivering Greggs sausage rolls to the lazy,it's positively dangerous.
Sounds very much like a "feather your own nest" type politician? To be fair,he's not in some sort of exclusive Club...They're all self serving hypocrites.
