Afraid not, I'm pretty much certain I remember the Council selling their remaining stake a while back.
Probably a supermarket chain. Lots of new builds and conversations of old building into flats going on in the City centre. Queens Gardens, Market place, marina etc.
Good news whoever the new retailer is. No empty unit open to vandalism/arson, jobs created and business rates paid. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Expect even more complaints about bard etc that were already there and even more demands they shut early. This is a city that seems anything open after 11pm as late night. Though there is now a late night sweetvp shop. That will bring the foreign visitors in to the world class visitor destination.
Hull doesnt have a lot wealth the wealth is in the East Riding. Also doesnt help when you have a huge hostel in the City centre William Booth and what that brings.
I see Barrow Boys finally got their 1.30am license. And isn't that Warehouse 21 still open until 4.00am?
After a fuss and only Fridays, Saturdays and weekends for the Barrow Boys. There is a lack of late night places in Hull, and that isn't unique to Hull in this country, where mixed groups from younger people to old fogies of my age would feel comfortable in, even if they were allowed, and older people in general, like there is in Europe.
There would also have to be a big change in the mindset and a lot more residential in the centre . When it hits 5,30pm it's deserted
David Burns @bbcburnsy Wellington Pizza Pub in Humber St in #hull closing with immediate effect. Their #beverley restaurant remains open. Not a good sign for #humberst ?
I think that we are in very real danger of throwing away all of the gains made during City of Culture year. There simply isn't enough legacy activity. I like a wander around that area on a Sunday but more often than not it's empty and there is virtually nothing going on in the streets at any time now - really sad when you think back to how vibrant it was just a short while ago. It's not as if there isn't a good budget for doing stuff but looking at the size of the staff team of Absolutely Cultured it looks like it is being swallowed up by salaries - 27 staff!!!!
Believe there is interest in the place and genuine possibility of new owners but with different plans than pizzas.
