Whilst the number of pubs has decreased. A report in the paper was saying young people are drinking less alcohol, or not drinking alcohol at all. And having less sex than previous generations. No alcohol, less sex. But plenty of coffee. Glad I am an oldie.
Remember going to a greengrocer in Gipsyville, long long time ago, asked for fresh parsley. Lots of teeth-sucking and head-scratching. Can't think where you'll get any of that round 'ere mate, was the reply.
The most misplaced business park you can imagine. Anytime from 4pm onward, traffic is mounting on the slip road off the A63 Eastbound, sometimes to the point of the main carriageway. They can't go forward as traffic which has used the slip road on the A63 West Bound leading up to that roundabout has right of way. The traffic going toward the bridge to either access it or turn toward Beverley has no where to go (traffic lights also at the business park Phase 1) as traffic comes off the bridge. It wasn't so much of a problem before they put the 'drive through' lane in, but now there is not the break in traffic as some numb nut fiddles for change that was once there. Traffic coming out of the BP Phase 1 has nowhere to go either from 5 ish. So imagine, Business Park Phase 2. You want to go to Beverley or across the bridge or onto there A63. You're going to be ****ed. You'll have to double back using a roundabout that is totally gridlocked, which will then mean traffic coming along Boothfrerry Road will likely join up with the back of that queue and potentially block the Bridge roundabout !!! HCC is ****, ERYCC follows suit. Apparently, the roundabout at the Humber Bridge is governed by 3 parties. Humber Bridge Board, Highways England and ERYCC and they cannot get around a table to sort it out.
Know it well. The only way it could be sorted out is if Wykeland & EYRC gives up some land to road creation and potentially the Premier Inn loses half their car park and those houses opposite the Premier Inn go. Will never happen. Next junction along the A63, anyone trying to exit the two sides of Priory Park business park onto Priory Way or out of Sainsbury's similarly get snarled up thanks to the ridiculous over-capacity road junctions designed for light "domestic" traffic only, not industrial vehicles or lorries delivering cars. That one will only be solved by serious bridgework over the A63 to make the silly single carriage way road over it into double carriageway. Will never happen. Will be fun when the new monster Arco building opens and the number of artic movements triples. That mess is due to Henry Boot Developments and HCC. Nice to know we live in an area with such visionaries planning our infrastructure...
When the Humber Bridge opened why did the south bank road to nowhere get a dual carriageway and the eventual north bank road to Beverley was only built as a single? Further up the Riplingham Road junction is a death trap, when is the roundabout going in and the Willerby roundabouts are constant gridlock.
They need traffic lights on both those roundabouts going into Willerby, it doesn't work at all as it is.
That section of the A15 was built as an early section of the long-since abandoned East Coast Motorway. I guess there was no agreement at that time about where the motorway would head north of the Humber.
They've had a few goes at improving the A164 Humber Bridge to Beverley and it's still not fit for purpose, particularly end of Great Gutter Lane through to Cott.
I had a wonderful pie yesterday at Pieminister. A Christmas Speciality “Cracker Pie” It was rather good. Turkey & Ham with Parsnips, Cranberries & Sherry. Served on a bed of mash topped with minted mushy peas, crispy shallots, cheese & three pigs in blankets. Mrs Chesh has a Steak & Blue Cheese that I finished for her. Love when this place gets all facebooky
