of course depends on if you are fielding a team of players who have elped city or the all time best players that played for city the premier players bullard geo etc are no doubt better players but others have done far more for city.
billy bremner peter barnes to name just two played for city but barmby or even elliot did more for city

Am I the only one that thinks that a certain Mr Warner is missing from that list?

How many are aware that Viggo Jensen was brought to Hull City as an Inside Right and that Jock Davidson played a huge amount of his games as a wing half and I think holds the record for the most games ever played for the Tigers. Also that Waggy and Chilo did get representative honours in a tour of Australia .Billy Bly too was picked for an England "B" team but was unable to represent due to injury and local lad Brian Cripsey who never got a mention was a Welsh International left winger. With players like Don Revie ,Stan Mortensen and Wilf Mannion turning out in Tigers colours I guess the emphasis really should be on players who have contributed more over a longer period of time for the greater benefit of the club.Loyalty being of great significance in the actual choice. Having said all that I guess the final result ,although debateable, seems reasonable even if not completely to everyone's taste.

Interesting thread. All time greats is very hard to define. According to my old man norman would have been no match for Billy Bly. Great as he was for us at the time, I think eliot would have struggled to hold the left wing against Ian Butler who played at a consistently higher level. despite all the debate on Windass, I don't think he was a patch on Waggy who were both similar players. Then of course there was the unsung midfield maestro of Ken Houghton who had a superb football brain, scored a few himself and many said at the time that Chillo and Waggy would not have been as good without him. From the same era, Chris Simpkin was also influential and if I'm not mistaken was called up for Englan under 21 as an over-age player. I'm surprised there's no mention of Stuart Pearson who had a few games with England U-21 while still with us before going on to Man. U and full England caps. I always felt it would have been interesting to see Pearson play with Chillo in his prime as he had as much bustle as Waggy but a better touch, brain and pace.

Terry Neil was still a pretty good player when he joined us and very influential too.

Please correct me on any errors in detail as I'm working from memory.

In 10 years time I imagine they'd be more Premiership era players in there, but nostalgia rules.

addistiger raises a couple of interesting ones for me, my mum and dad always enthused about Billy BLY, and to be fair folklore suggests he was a bit of a star to say the least. From my memories Chris SIMPKIN, Ian BUTLER and Ken HOUGHTON would also be in there. As for right back, I recall DAVIDSON, however attacking full backs in this day and age, Peter DANIEL anyone ???

Andy Davidson was tough but could be dirty i remember a game against Man City in the league Cup,1963, where he broke two of their players legs. But he was City through and through, though i remember the older guys in the crowd towards the end telling him to retire,no sentiment.Played in his last game 1967 v Villa.
    No Billy Askew,Billy WilkinsonJohn Kaye,Paul Moss,Steve McClaren.

I'd have put Geovanni in the 11 just to have a Brazilian in the squad!

contentiously, I suppoose that Phil Brown would be the natural choice for manager, closely ran by Peter Taylor.
Obviously emotions are still raw on the PB thing but his record bears scrutiny.
Miff33 is quite right, it would be easy to pick several variations of this, considering we've had the likes of Don Revie & Eddie Burbanks, John Hawley & Roy Greenwood, Andy Payton & Warren Joyce across different generations.
Curiously no-one has mentioned Colin Alcide or the revered Mr J Lewis. (;-p)
It's this side of impossible to compare one generation against the next because of technology improvements, better fitness development, rule changes etc.
Curious to see what people's teams for each decade would be.
This would give a bit more of a like for like comparitive.
    50s
    60s
    70s
    80s
    90s
    Noughties(?)
    Current

    Any takers?

It might be too much doing each decade. Now we have an all time XI, why not try post 70's and pre 70's?

Did anyone not have Michael Turner in their team?
My guess is he would be the one with the highest percentage in his own position.
