Absolutely, it's the sort of thing we'd be recommending if the club ever start talking to us again(Danish fans into Humberside Airport too).
In my company in Lyon, the only employees interested in football are classified as fans of the following teams: Everton 2 Hull City 1 (me) Arsenal 1 Norwich City 1 Stoke City 1 I know of only one other Hull City supporter in Lyon!
I have had people recognize our kit and talk to me about the club but I have yet to meet a random fan.
I think in this country and in the Broad Acres especially, people avoid your gaze because they know we are Yorkshire's No. 1 and better than half the Premiership. Before when we were pants, every **** wanted to chat football and smirk at how **** were . Well, who's laughing now, eh? There are a number of clubs in the Premier League who don't seem to have much of an international profile despite many seasons in the top division. Ason Villa, WBA, Fulham for example. Newcastle, Sunderland, WHU, Everton do a bit better. There is no direct correlation between time in the top division, league placing, geographical location - but one thing is for sure- outside the Champions League and away from a major international airport you don't get much of a look in. Silverware helps. We should be grooming Denmark, Sweden, Holland and Belgium.
Fulham is pretty big here because Dempsey played for them for so long. Beyond Man U, Liverpool and Barcelona kits it is probably the one that I see the most.
Slightly digressing from the thread, but there is a team in Eastern Europe (maybe Hungarian) who have seemingly ripped off our badge. Can’t remember full detail but it was on one of the forums at some point over the past few years.
Didn't think they had many fans in London let alone in the Landon Donovan of the Free and the Larry Homes of the Brave
Plenty around here but they have plenty of local competition in both Chelsea and QPR. Their club shop on Fulham road closed down a few months back so they now only have the one at Craven Cottage. Down the road in Kingston, there is a Chelsea club shop.
In the 5+ years I've worn my HCAFC jacquard-style scarf around Vancouver, three strangers have commented on it. I had a chat with a butch-looking woman who liked what PB had done with the club.
I've spoken to people in Jamaica, Egypt, Canada, Mexico, USA & Australia, bar Egypt & Jamaica the rest were just conversations about football & not excited. Although the Egyptians were really annoying & I was wishing I hadn't worn it!
In our first season up I'd just got off the plane, wearing a City shirt, in Belfast going to a job and from behind me came a chant of ''The Tigers, The Tigers''. It was a group of Irish lads who'd seen my shirt. At the carousal they told me it was great to see a good club like ours in the Prem and they'd be following us as a second team.
My offices used to be just along the road from St Mary's Southamptons stadium. Virtually every time I drove past here would be people taking photos of the stadium. In the pubs on match days there are always Dutch fans. But the biggest foriegn group who follow Southampton are Polish. Forget the name change, have Asian players and you boost your Asian appeal. Altodore, got us support for the States.
You could be surprised how many there are in Brizzy. Just where i live which is 30km north of Brisbane you could see either my Jeep sporting some City merchandise and also my sons car as well. In the same place there is another family of Hull City supporters as they are regularly seen in City shirts, not sure if their car sports anything inside. One thing now is there are a lot of Aussies who now ask every week what happened to City over the weekend or they watched the game on Fox.
