No ****, Bullshit!! - that's bloody marvellous! From your scoring record last season then, he must have had a fair number of his assists for the opposition. They say you can't keep a good guy down.
To be honest comparing Whittingham and Brady is a little odd, for me Whittingham is far more similar to Koren. It wasn't quite 109, but it was the second highest in the league in a team that didn't score many.
Couldn't agree more pal, but it was one of yours that did it and said he was better than Whitts. Ah, such is life on the forums.
Agree with you on Whittingham Sparkey. Two years ago I thought he was the best player in the Championship so was surprised to see him dropped in the run in last year. Watching the Man City game he seemed to be back on form. He's slow but he can read the game as well as anyone and can make the killer pass and set piece. However we now have Huddlestone who really is a class above and can do what Whitts does and then some. I expect some thunderous long range goals from Thudd this season. Our back lines are similar. Both very strong. We hadn't given up a goal in 300 minutes till Man City scored in the second half, and only two open play goals all season so far. McGregor edges Marshall IMO but both may not be fully fit. I'd expect Davies to be on FC like a blanket. We have overall a better mid-field in my opinion. I'd expect five across of Brady Koren/Quinn Huddlestone Livermore Elmohamedy. Very strong. Our weakness is up front. Sagbo is suspended, Aluko may not be at his best, Graham is slow and a question mark. Personally I'd like to see Aluko and Brady, both with speed and an eye for goal, up front with Boyd on the LW in Bradys spot. It should be a fascinating and very close game. My guess is 1-1. Brady for us, maybe penalty, and FC for you.
Good post CANADA - I wanted Huddles at Cardiff, but we were strung out by Capoue who eventually went to Spurs - they're a BIG club you see.
Looks like Cardiff didn't get much for the £30million they have spent this summer according to that football expert BSMan.
Sorry, as I've said they're totally different players but are you suggesting Whittingham is some footballing god and that Brady's not very good? Because if you are, then you're an idiot. I know who I'd rather have.
I'll be very surprised if Huddlestone doesn't make Woys World Cup squad Sparkey. With Lampard and Gerrard nearing the end of their careers we are going to need a MF playmaker with a terrific shot in England's MF and he's an obvious candidate. Signing him for 5 mill. was a stroke of genius by SB and he and Livermore, who we should sign for 3.2 mill. in January have transformed our CMF which was a major weakness last season. In addition Bruce's signings of Davies (another England candidate IMO), McGregor a brilliant GK, Figueroa, Elmo, Brady, Boyd, and Quinn, all at very cheap prices, have hugely strengthened our team, as have Malkys at your place, particularly FC and Caulker. We both now have squads which should be able to avoid relegation and become very competitive with most teams in the Prem. Koren has a new lease on life, Chester is one of the best young defenders in the EPL, and Aluko is a star in the making. A fit Gedo will help us up front also, and I expect us to go after Long again in January who is the type of striker we really need. Should be a great season for our two clubs. Made even better if Palace go down, as I expect, and we don't have to face Holloways antics any more.
Huddles and Livermore jointly were a steal at that money, especially when we paid the same club over £8M for Caulker. Having said that, Caulker is another class central defender whose young age at just 21 belies his current ability besides his future development. Medel at around £11M also seems like a lot of money, but the guy really is a "pitbull" to match his nickname - he will snuff out a lot of developing attacks in front of our back 4. Must say I've been impressed with your play so far these first three games, especially against Man C, and I think Saturday will be a real contest. We have relied on putting men behind the ball to get our points and I don't think Malky will change that at your place. I see it as a draw all over, but for some unaccountable reason, I've stuck a 0-3 win for us on Saturday - heart over head again.
You missed the point. I said that you took advantage of Kompany missing and we did not. In saying that, IF Kompany had played at your place then Man City would have won the game. Well done for taking advantage like. As for saturday, its another game and situation. Who knows who will play and who will be missing. We shall all know by 2.55pm when the teams come out.
Firstly, how do people not understand that when you talk about conceding from set pieces in football people generally mean when the ball is played into the box i.e. a corner or free kick that is whipped into heads so that the defence can actually defend it. We conceded two goals direct from free kicks that were both blatant dives from two of the best free kick takers in the league. Anyway, regarding Whitts vs Brady... A couple of seasons ago I would have probably had Whitts as the best player in the Championship, but I don't see how you can be astonished that people are saying they would rather have the 2nd top assister in the league (whilst not playing the full season and in a team with few goals) over somebody that was dropped due to poor form. I know Whitts is technically a great footballer but I doubt any of you have really seen Brady play, he has great feat, great strength, good shooting, good tricks, and he is also very strong defensively as he played LB for United.
I don't recall anyone from Cardiff saying anything about Brady - it was someone on here who brought it up.
