In midfield thought that we missed Quinn. Elmo played ok and his header off the bar was outstanding. Also got down the wing on a number of occasions to good effect, but, as others have pointed out he needed to be aware of what options he had ahead. Aluko also the same. DG may not be scoring but have to say that he was aware where his team mates where and laid off the ball to good effect on a number of occasions that came close to goals.
Looked a more balanced team with Graham on the pitch. And by more balanced I mean better. Wish he'd score and shut some of the wingers on this forum up.
From memory, he's been great every game. Was fairly underwhelmed when we signed him and lost Hobbs. But, even this early on, it seems like a masterstroke by Bruce.
Strong, quick, intelligent, mobile, brave etc Doesn't get caught out of position or accrue yellow cards. Bruce's best signing?
Could well be be, but there's a few contenders. Getting an English CB of his apparent quality (as you outline) for such a price, at his age (peak), is rare though.
Vomit. Sweat tea is a thing here but I dont like that either. I also dont like coffee so I am just out of place when it comes to beverages that people drink before 5pm.
Was disappointed with Meyler he looked totally lost when he got his chance to play.Quinn would have been a better option and should have come on earlier for Brady who struggled in the second half. With Sagbo playing "god knows what role" and Meyler floating around we lost our shape completely.Lucky to hold on and with a kind Ref. it's a handy 3 points.
Still early doors and we've not seen most teams yet, but the gap in quality between us and the so called established teams is not enormous. West Ham and Norwich were both mid table teams last season. Nul points conceded without too much sweat.
The unique thing about today's game is that the goalscorer did not get MOTM. I thought Huddlestone was worthy of it even if it is a completely worthless award, (how many actually vote for that? Less than 10 I reckon). Agree about Davies being a brilliant signing. And I thought Faye was excellent today despite my initial reservations about him playing a full 90 mins. Overall I thought Aluko was decent but there were a couple of occasions where he reminded me of Fryatt - ie taking too long to line up a shot and trying to walk around the defence rather than just putting his boots through it. Great win though - 5 places above Man United! I love it!
Naturally. In the wider picture, it looks like being the most competitive Premier Division (in all depts) for a long time. Bar Palace, are there any **** teams? I don't think so. Staying up could be harder than it has ever been this year.
Rosie+Elmo combined is almost the same as just Rosie or just Elmo. With Rosie you have slightly more defensive capability, with Elmo you have slightly more attacking potential. I think we are going to have to choose one, and play Quinn/Boyd/Koren in midfield, as it just gives you a bit more.
People around me were calling for Danny Graham to be substituted from the start of the second half. Sagbo seems to think he's a winger/right back?
1. The ref was abysmal (and that's without seeing the two penalty decisions, but from the sounds of it he got them both wrong); 2. I heard a couple of Hammers saying they were the better side throughout, but I can't remember them having a single real chance; 3. West Ham are another one of those sides whose players are capable of playing excellent football, but whose Neanderthal manager makes them hoof it at every opportunity. Allardyce for England? ; 4. We missed Brady when he went off; 5. I thought Huddlestone had a few shaky moments today, as he did against Cardiff, but he was mostly fantastic; 6. Davies was my MOTM Have a nice day, y'all
