Not really, Hull will rival Boro and Derby for spending power and will target an immediate return to the Prem.......

Not bothered in the slightest. They can blow the parachute if they want. No reason for us to follow suit. They spent like mad at the beginning of last season. And look where that got them

Hull Boro Ipswich Derby MK Dons
Burnley Blackburn Fulham Forest Charlton Wednesday Brighton Wolves Reading Cardiff all have in them to finish above us

That's 15 out of 23 teams....on that basis we'll be in a relegation battle!
Laughable!<laugh>

I haven't got a clue about Championship teams, but that sounds very possible. Burnley will be very competitive. For the Prem at least you could say with some certainty that we would finish between anywhere from bottom to 9th. This season could be anything. As long as we try to play decent football i.e. passing, at speed, accurately, forwards, that's fine. And Mackie doesn't get a kick.

I believe we face a reality check as most of our fans are still under the influence of the last few years
We have a new team to forge and that can't be done on paper
The teams I listed are all very stable compared to a club that has the price of total disruption forced upon it
I stress IMO we must be patient

That sounds about right....a premiership glory boy, I knew it!!
Or maybe watching a game instead of jawing in the bar having gone all the way to LR would help this season!

I look forward to the reports on "big-spending Hull" and "big-spending Derby" and the moaning of fans of other teams who spend less unless it's only QPR who aren't allowed to spend money when they have it.

They're unlikely in our case. Even if we sign Gray for £7M+£2M in clauses we've still spent £10M less than we've made from transfer fees this summer. And last summer our net spend was only £10M thanks to the player sales.

The money we're about to pay for Gray is ridiculous though. Maybe if he'd had a couple more years experience at this level with that rate of return, but not after 1.

Yes it seems as if the Championship is going the same way as the Premier League!

I blame Blackburn. £8M for Rhodes when he'd previously only played at L1 or lower set a new level of ridiculousness for fees at this level. Even though he's gone on to do well, it set a precedent of that kind of fee being paid for somebody with potential rather than proven ability at this level.
