The Y is indeed from a Family Butchers tiled shop front, which is now (or at least ‘now’ on Google street view) a cocktail bar on Princes Ave.
I eventually found it, but only with the massive clues you gave. It's certainly not the one I had in mind, so I'd never have got that. The fence is in the way for a kick off.
Yep - the Twitter thread said it was the Y from Family Butchers and on Princes Ave, I wouldn’t have got it otherwise. I’m still bemused by the K. I’ve checked again and the woman who took all the photos has ‘liked’ the post that says Black Boy, whereas she’s said no to other wrong answers, but it’s just not the same typeset. Unless it’s changed since the street view photo was taken I guess?
Same here. I’d guess Victorian, possibly Edwardian from the style and looked at New Theatre amongst other places, but I’m stumped really.
It was, she’s gained a Twitter follower in me at least. And it’s just appeared on my Facebook too, but beyond seeing if anyone posts the E I won’t spoil it for the One Hull of a City community.
I'm avoiding the Twitter thing as I don't want to spoil it, but I wouldn't grumble if some clues were posted.
That seems entirely fair. I’m still not having that K. Although her photo in situ proving that they have indeed changed the sign from when the Google street view image was taken is quite convincing admittedly. I am sufficiently stubborn that I’ll probably have a look when I’m next in town though.
Yes, I clicked the link in the OP, and it went to a thread with a spoiler alert. I was disappointed with the K, but most of us had guessed it, and dismissed it when we checked. Cheers for posting the link on here, I enjoyed looking for them.
It was a cracking idea and would make a good poster too We got a few wrong though! Not bad for a bunch who can’t remember what we had for dinner mind you!
