And they would have all been wrong.I think back in 2012, every Spurs fan would've said the same.
I've never claimed that there is a foolproof algorithm that can rank footballers. I'm pretty sure that even a rudimentary algorithm will do better on average than a random fan like you or me though. We all have too much prejudice to make proper judgements.

Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris was at fault for Liverpool's last-gasp winner on Sunday but manager Mauricio Pochettino has given his backing to the French World Cup winner.
"He is my captain, he is one of the best keepers in the world," said Pochettino. "That is not in doubt.
"Hugo is one of the best and he is going to be in goal tomorrow. It is a situation that is so painful because we deserved more.
"We have to be strong and back our players. Hugo is going to be great for us and will be one of the most important players for the future of the club."

This is the bit that worries me. Is he deluded or just saying things for the sake of it?
He's probably trying to repair Lloris' confidence before our game tomorrow and settle his nerves.
The first three lines do that. The last sentence could've been said about KWP after the Barca game, not a 32 year old in his 7th season at the club.
Furthermore he has only been maneuvered into a position where it is necessary to do that thanks to his stubborn insistence to persist with a player who has had more ups and downs in the past 2 years than the pound.
And even if he feels Gazza isn't ready yet, the notion that a 32-year old world cup winner who captains club and country isn't capable of generating his own confidence is deeply, deeply concerning.
A quick glance at the league table, will see that Hugo’s last minute penalty save against Arsenal, could turn out to have a massive influence on if we qualify for next seasons CL. Last nights penalty save will undoubtedly play a part on if we proceed to the semi finals.

About the only football saying I agree with is that form is temporary and class is permanent. Lloris is nowhere near the point where he can easily be replaced.
I think we shall very soon be able to confirm the statement that Vorm is temporary.
