Keown talks a lot of crap, but I was listening to that commentary live and he said that Soldado's link-up play was better. It was one of the reasons he felt that he was starting ahead of Defoe. The substitution had already been made at the time and a wayward pass came almost instantly off the back of the comment. As for Lloris being the best in the league, I think I'd still have to give that to Cech. The French captain is the most suited to our system, though. That's one of the reasons that I feel we need to bring in at least one keeper in January. Friedel's still good, but he can't play the sweeper keeper role.
Keown is mad and maybe a little ******ed . Somebody earlier commented that Keown looks like a monkey, if I may be so bold to add a rather ugly one. They must have expert knowledge at they are originally from Africa. My limited familiarity of our distant cousins comes from a enlightened trip to Chessington . I must confirm , they were all better looking. As for Hansen he is a fine looking monkey. Defoe is a good egg. We all tend to like him but are also aware of his weaknesses and I don't mean failed Z list reality stars, manufactured pop singers and lower order fame hungry glamour crumpet. The problem many of the pundits have relationships with the playesr built over many years . A bit of an old boy network. Defoe seems to get full backing from the media that tend to never look under the covers. Roberto is as good finisher as Jermaine. His link play is far superior , technic and vision is miles a head. As others have said a real asset to the balance of the team. The service has been awful so far but hopefully will improve. Jemaine has a very important role but unfortunately for him in a secondary role.
Lloris will have to address his near post issues, flapping at crosses, coming for ones he should leave and poor kicking before being given 'best in league' tag. There's been more than a few dodgy moments that have been got away with...glossed over by some!
