MARK Hughes heads to Liverpool for tomorrow's Premier League opener hoping Stoke City's football will win over those still opposed to his appointment. Hughes acknowledges there will be some fans against the decision to recruit him as Tony Pulis' successor in May. But he remains confident supporters will warm to the greater passing game he is aiming to introduce. "Every manager, when they come into a new club, will have doubters who maybe don't take to you initially," said Hughes, "and it's up to you to try and win them over. "But when they see the type of football we are trying to produce, hopefully we will win them round." Hughes insisted he wasn't under pressure to recruit new signings before the transfer deadline at the end of the month, but hinted he might be interested in QPR winger Junior Hoillett. Hughes, who managed the Canadian youngster at both Blackburn and QPR, said: "Junior is a very good player and he's started the season well, but I'm not sure if he's available. If we are able to bring in players of that quality we will try and do that." Really hope we don't sell Hoilett
Not sure how QPR feel about dealing with that man. Looking forward to Hughes losing tomorrow and hearing his pathetic excuses.
be typical wouldnt it? hughes does an appalling job for us and then the one player who looks as if he might just come good...hughes comes back to nab him. It's like sparkless wants to administer the final coup de grace!
Every player has his price. We paid relatively little for him, but I expect his wages are high as part of the 'join the project' bribe. Is he a Harold favourite. Not sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see anyone go at the moment, including the ones we have only just bought.
ha! yes it's a proper merry go round at the mo. i remember when it first happened under hughes i was excited by it...now it just makes me nervous.
I thought Hoilett struggled to shine in the PL and it might be due to the fact he's not that good against better opposition. He looks better this season as it's Championship football. If Hughes takes him he might have got himself an ineffective PL player. It's better he stays with us.
According to David Mc Hoilett has a £7million buy out clause in his contract http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/clause-means-hoilett-would-cost-stoke-city-7m-774211
