just to drag this topic towards football for a moment, is anyone else getting annoyed by the calls from the football club regarding the FITC payment schemes? i've told them twice in the past few months that i already pay a fair amount towards the youth and community schemes the club run and they still keep pressing for more. i've told them if they call again i shall pull the plug on what i pay (which isn't much admittedly but its still something which i pay off my own back). its not as if the club aren't already in a stronger financial position whilst we all struggle for work or anything...

Maybe if they spoke to you and your partner at the same time, they would be more understanding, as talking to one half of a couple is clearly not acceptable.*

Disclaimer - that may have been a sarcastic post.

The thing about this that makes me even more sad is I called them to organize an appointment. Now they have my details, I'll be beating them off with a stick for years.

<wah><wah><wah>

This thread reminds me of my time at a North London Poly in the early 80`s.

To supplement my grant I had to take a job.One of my flatmates recommended a cold calling centre selling wall coating.

I went in the first night and found myself surrounded by failed actors. The boss then came up to me and said good luck,at which point he ripped a page out of the telephone directory and said this is yours.

I got the page G.To be more precise I got Ga...............................followed by a Y.Imagine how many people gave me more than one second of their time.

I lasted all of 30 minutes before I was fired.

<grr> No compensation.

So that was YOU!

Gandy-If your familiy name was Gay,and you you happened to be living in Finchley during the Thatcher days then I am really sorry.

All I can say is that I have changed my ways.

As an impulsive Norwich buyer, I have Anglian windows but only because Poll Withey are now defunct. If ever forced to choose lager over proper beer will have Fosters lager; in a brief running phase had asics trainers; bank with Norwich and Peterborough; will only buy Colman's mustard and have insurance through Aviva.

Loyalties one thing but no amount of money would persuade me to drive a Proton!

I have my own building & double glazing company, NEVER go to a big firm always use the smaller firm, better service, more personal & competetive. <ok>

Luckily I have made appointments with two local firms who couldn't of been nicer on the phone. Unsurprisingly, they will come round if one of us isn't in.<ok>

We had Anglia Home Improvements round for the third time since Christmas last Saturday.
Would you be interested in double glazing? ________________No! it's all less than a year old.
How about Fashia and Barge boards? ____________________No! it's all less than a year old.
We do a good price on Guttering! _______________________No! it's all less than a year old.
Can I quote you for a new garage door? __________________No! there's nothing wrong with the one I've got.
and now the last and the very best........
We do Brickweave as well. ____________________________Look down mate.......you're standing on the ****ing stuff.

Haha, nice one ILD!

Regarding AVIVA, they wiped out the iconic 'Norwich Union' brand as part of a £9 Billion advertising campaign. I mean, £9 Billion!

Nothing would make me do business with them.

I get about 5 emails a week; meal & ticket, buy stuff in the Canary store, etc. I don't even open them anymore, just delete them.
About 6 weeks ago I started getting phone calls about the academy lottery, I said, I already put in quite a bit into the club one way or another, and felt I was doing my bit already. It's only £2:50p a week they said, I said that's £120 a year and it's too much. They then asked if they could ring me back in a few weeks to see if I'd changed my mind, I said no point I won't. Since then I've had at least 3 more calls on the same subject and I'm getting pissed off with them. The club has been part of my life for over 50 years and in that time I've put in a lot of money, which I don't begrudge a penny of, but this is getting stupid. The cost of going to football is high enough already without them trying to fleece the fans for more. There is a recession on or has that passed them bye?

Yep, and as I've stated on a previous thread, they only sponsored us to pacify the good people of Norwich when they changed name Aviva IMO ! <ok>
