If the club can afford to do that, fair play to them. Can we afford to do similar, I doubt it.

slightly different of course due to size of ground (supply > demand) and location but £500+ for 23 Championship games is scandalous

I expect that we will still sell as many ST's as Huddersfield.

However, let's hope that they manage to sell their full allocation & that other clubs will follow suit. I have no feelings towards them as a club but the best pub I've ever been to prior to a game is only a ten minute walk from their stadium!

Reduce our ST's by £400 to come close to matching their figure & we would reduce our income by £4.8 million if we sold 12,000. A fair bit of revenue, but nothing compared to our parachute payments. It wouldn't have a tremendous effect on our "profitability"!

Our gate receipts are an irrelevance. One player on £20k a week 'earns' £1m+ a year. Fernandes reckons the average price of a seat at LR is £19 (yeah, ****ing mystifying isn't it, I suppose 80% of our crowd must be pensioners or kids, only a few mugs like me pay £35), of which the club gets £14 after tax. Let's be generous and assume a sell out 18,000 crowd every week for 23 games. That gives a total gate income of £5.8m per season, I'm in a good mood so let's round it up to £6m . Enough for 6 £20k a week players! To maintain a squad of 25 players on gate receipts the average wage would have to be around £4,600 a week (still a decent wedge, £240k a year). But of course you couldn't pay coaches, physios, youth set up, administrators etc etc out of that.

The maths doesn't work on championship football without parachute payments.
