Someone hit the post and someone had a shot off the line, that was it for 2 hours, it was mind numbing.
Huddersfield will do well next season which will prove just how poor a Division the NPC is. Thank God we're not in it.
dooblin accent considering my da is a corkman and i lived my first amazing 4 years both there and in belfast i probably cant talk about regional irish accents either
It was poor last season but that was largely down to the financial problems if several clubs. I really think NPC is a step up from League 1
Well its obviously a step up from League 1, DL, its the next division up! But the standard in it is poor. Having followed that division for the best part of 15 years up until last season, that is my considered and calculated conclusion.
If you take out the Top 6 teams I really don't think the PL is that much stronger than the Championship these days. West Ham and Southampton IMO would easily have stayed up in this seasons Prem
That just means the bottom of the PL has gotten very sh*t recently. I'm not sure it has, DL. I still think there's a chasm between the top two Divs if not quite as big as it once was.
Swansea and Norwich were safe by March (realistically) and didn't strengthen their squads that much. I'd be willing to bet at least two newly promoted teams stay up this year (West Ham will get midtable IMO) Newcastle and WBA held their own the previous season as well. These days on average 2 newly promoted teams a year aren't just surviving but also finishing midtable.
I think I had this argument with you just before last season DL. I'll concede that the gap has closed somewhat but Norwich and Swansea spent US$15.67m, which I know is not much in Prem terms, but in Ch'ship terms its a whole new team! - And therein is the chasm. West Brom strengthened considerably and Newcastle had a Prem team coming up (Carroll, Nolan etc) hence why they walked the NPC. I do think you have a point but having watched nothing but Ch'ship and Lge 1 football the last 15 years, I think its a dreadful standard.
I agrre with you roughly here District. I have said before on here that I don't think there is much difference between about the bottom half of the PL and top third or so of the NPL. I also think the standard of the PL is over-rated by many, mostly people who are trying to market it. The standard seems to be getting lower, English Club results this last sason in Europe support this.
Champions League winners: Chelsea! Are you out of your mind?!! All that darkness up there must be gettin' to ye Oz. And to say that to DL to boot!
