If we keep this squad together, it could be some season! I'm under no illusions that other teams aren't looking at Cantwell, Godfrey, Aarons and Emi etc, but if by some miracle we keep them, I think it's a better squad than our last Champ squad by miles! Skipp looks an improvement on Trybull/Leitner, hopefully Sorensen will be as good or better, Dowell is better than Stiepermann (with him still being decent cover at this level), Hugill and Idah together should get as many goals as Rhodes, Quintilla seems like a decent replacement for Lewis (and we still have Byram to come back!), Gibson boosts the defensive options and we have added strength to the wings with Placheta and Sinani. Fingers crossed they can gel and keep showing the same fight and resilience we did today (and the promotion season)!
Easier for the ref to admit it once we've won the game, but still, I appreciate the honesty. Wish we could have more of it from refs, think it would help their image considerably. BBC match report has a quote from Farke about an "outburst" from Farke towards Idah for training poorly in the week, with the implication that Farke considered dropping him. Have we heard anything about this from other sources?
Idah dropped the hammer to get in position for Pukki's pass, but Placheta's pace made Idah look slow!
Watching the highlights, Placheta's pace is clearly on show in the move for our goal. Worth seeing how he isn't even in the shot as Pukki picks the ball up in their half, and then Placheta overtakes a defender to arrive in the box completely unmarked.
My apologies ZK. Us old geezers don't think of things like that! Belated congratulations to both of you!
Hernandez is quick, but there were times when had Placheta been on, he could have been clean through at pace. What a counter-attacking weapon he is going to be and if we played him and Onel either side of Pukki even more so.
All good, great we got the win, watched the highlights when I got up and I thought Hernandez looked strong and dangerous, though perhaps lacking some of the sharpness you might expect midway through a season. It was a good win, broke the hoodoo and hopefully it is onwards and upwards from here.
The exciting thing about Hernandez is he is always looking to get a shot away or cross the ball, he rarely turns back
Thorough look at Xavi Quintilla's performance at Huddersfield. Paddy gives him a 7 and WhoScored gave him a 7.2 rating. Not a bad debut. https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/huddersfield-0-norwich-1-quintilla-player-watch-1-6835629
Quintilla apparently creates 4 chances on Saturday, as did Cantwell. No player in the championship made more than 5, and we were the only team with two players in the top 10. Rough xG score from Experimental 361 was 0.3-2.3. No team in the Championship had a lower xG than Huddersfield, no other team had an xG above 2. So stats would suggest we're doing something right! Idah with an xG of 0.7 in about 20 mins should mean he'll score 100 goals this season if Farke starts him...
Great to get a win and start the new season on a high. Adam Idah off the mark! please log in to view this image
Much as I'd like to believe that xG prediction, Rob, it has to be said that Teemu created that goal and laid it on a plate for Adam. Idah did have another good chance though again provided by Teemu. The main xG stats on both teams are indeed very impressive and indicate how good we were on both sides of the ball.
Yes I can relate to that... at least Perth has no decent football team so he has to support Norwich. In fact I think I would disown him if he didn't haha
