Right. Off we go. We've had the obligatory German tour, the ill-fated Haribo cup dabble. Time to get ready for some real action. Which potentially involves locking horns with Alex Pritchard and Harry Toffolo. Possible line-ups, formations, etc as the week unfolds. But hopefully starts for Skipp, Gibson and Dowell. But probably not Jamal.
I sincerely hope not. If we concede three against Huddersfield we should be worried. Let's try staying solid and scoring the only goal on the break .....
If our supporters now want us to adopt a style of playing where we defend for our lives and hope to win 1-0 on the break why the hell did we get rid of Hughton?
The rest of the board seem out of step with your genius and wisdom, paired with your 20/20 hindsight I'm surprised Delia hasn't recruited you and got rid of the useless German lump . The guy may have won the league 2 seasons ago but what does he know about coaching a professional football team compared to you ?
Changing the subject: Does anyone have a view on paying £10 to stream this through iFollow? Does the club get the money? Also, is it any good in terms of quality?
I would imagine Huddersfield get the money and we get the home revenue. I would pay £20 month or £5 game but £460 for all games excluding cups is way too expensive.
The quality of the actual stream is normally good. But it utilises only a limited number of cameras, and incident replays are few and far between. Sometimes the camera work isn't great, it's not Sky or BT. As for cost, IMO £10 is a bit steep. But then my home insurance has just gone up by 20% and my wife's hairdressing bill by the same amount!
The Luton debacle surely wasn't worth £10? If you paid for every game home and away it's probably more expensive than a home season ticket
Now that is genuine hindsight ...... Actually it was worth it, a first properly competitive game featuring four new youngsters (Barden, Mumba, McCallum, Martin) plus, of our more senior summer signings, Dowell and Hugill. Our goal was a thing of beauty courtesy of Vrancic, Stiepermann and Hernandez, finished off by Dowell. Of course, what I'm sure everyone was itching to know was whether there was any detectable tactical change. The answer, I'm afraid, is in the scoreline!
The answer to the scoreline is nothing to do with tactics but all to do with the fact that we were away to another Championship side, not Lowestoft or Wroxham, we had an untried kid in goal along with 3 other kids and 2 new players as well, a completely new and untried back 4 etc etc. I, for one, have more faith in our Coach than I have in your views on tactics or the endless meaningless stats you produce. End of rant!!
6 players made their debuts, 7 really as Martin only played a few cameos last season that was his first start , add to that Klose went off after an hour and Tettey had to play as a make shift centre back. You can't judge the coach or first team on that. From the Radio Norfolk commentary and highlights it looked like a pretty **** game other than the last 10 minutes where Luton demolished us.
It does however re-emphasise the fact that a game lasts 90+ minutes, not 80+. We need to be switched on from first whistle to last, no more lame excuses.
When Farke has a full squad to select Saturday I will not be making any excuses for him . We don't usually win our first game so I won't get too excited if we don't, we do however need a good performance and if things aren't going to plan start making subs after 60 mins . Losing by 2 or 3 goals and not making changes until 80 mins is one of my biggest criticisms of Farke . I hope they have been working on set pieces too because we haven't been able to handle them since Farke has been in charge . If that's down to zonal marking or because we had 3 very young players in the back 4 , or because Lewis is very lightweight and Max is quite small ? I don't know but Gibson will hopefully give us a bit more muscle in defence.
