Not a royalist but the news that HRH is seriously unwell is quite sad. Her children on the way to Balmoral gives a clue.
Not sure where I am on the modern day monarchy but for now, this is just about a frail lady that has devoted her life to her country. My thoughts are with her and only her.
Seems strange not to have her around in the background to all our lives. Not exactly a fan of Royalty myself but recognise she gave a lifetime of service to the country (putting the lavish trappings of Royal life aside). RIP ER II
Whatever one’s views on the Royal Family are it’s a sad event for them. Elizabeth 11 was nothing but an extraordinary person. RIP to her.
Her Father George VI died two days after I was born so she’s been Queen all my life, literally. I’m sad that she’s gone and I’ve respected her all my life, but the rest of them can do one! RIP Your Majesty ✝️
I was born a month after her dad died. When she opened Bessemer Road fruit market, I was part of a guard of honour formed by the Boys Brigade from Splott Methodist. I must have been about 10 I guess. So she walked within a foot of me with a genuine smile of appreciation. She had huge relevance for most of her time on the throne and remained the one constant in both good and difficult times. I'm not sure the monarchy now has the same relevance but for now it's about mourning a sad loss. Rest in peace Ma'am and thank you
A bit harsh Dai and if I may make so bold, a little out of character for you. Reading the comments on this thread, I can't see that anyone has declared their love for the Royals. In fact, quite the contrary. I think all we've done is mourn the passing of an individual who many respected as such. In my humble opinion, the arguments for and against the monarchy can be out on hold for the moment and when they resume, I'm sure your feelings will have a lot of support
Clingo, I hate the so called royals, people earn respect they have not. It's 2022 not 1522. If that is harsh so be it.
Fully accept your point of view but it was the **** lickers bit and what it inferred that prompted my reply. Sleeping dogs now I suggest
Trevor Sinclair - what a berk!!! Everyone is entitled to their own personal opinion but, assuming he wasn't hacked, this was a totally stupid thing to post on a public forum. Especially from someone prosecuted for racially aggravated assault. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/...kCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar
Some will feel sad and others will not, personally I think she did her best with dignity and not many of us can say that.
