Don't buy all the everything is fine stuff, it doesn't take 2 days to get a contract agreed, there is something wrong and it could be Leeds have now decided the fee isn't enough due to another clubs interest.

My boss reckons the hold up is down to negotions for another Leeds player dragging on/hitting buffers - hoping to announce two signings at once and limit the Leeds fans backlash...snodders?

sorry, thats nonsense. you can't accept a fee and then go back on it!! the deal has been agreed at whatever price, the players terms are all sorted according to lambert and he was having a medical on the friday. we all know he is injured so they may have done further tests to explore the injury and are waiting for the results - who knows! lambert said on friday he was ok with the extent of the injury and that he was delighted he was joining. he then came to our game. its not unusual for a transfer to take a few days to go through

BillysStatue, all supposition I'm afraid. No-one knows how much we offered him, & I shouldn't think it was much less than he'll be getting at Norwich, so to me he's jumped ship as he could easily have stood his ground & stayed.
Also, it costs me over £100 every time I go to Elland Road, saw us struggle v Ipswich without our 'loyal, inspirational' skipper, so far from making me a whingeing scummer, it entitles me to an albeit controversial opinion which I'll post on this forum as & when I choose.
Finally he's no longer a Leeds United player so I'll diss him if I so choose.

Of course you can go back on the fee. He's under contract at Leeds, and if we decided now to reject the offer, we still could.

no you can't. you can accept another offer and hope the player then signs for someone else but you can't agree a fee with a team and then renegade on it <doh>

Renegade? Agreed fees mean nothing until the ink is dry on the contract, until then nothing is done as the player has to ultimately agree to the move, so if the player reneges on the deal it doesn't matter. In this case I think it is his medical that is the issue, doctor has to sign off for insurance purposes before the contract can be finalised.

LIE - why call Howson Captain Coward when he always gave 100% for Leeds? Most certainly diss O'Brien for behaving like a prat, but Howson has done nothing wrong, it is Bates screwing our quality players that's causing them to leave, along with a manager who is an idiot. How can we lose players of the calibre of Beckford, Johnson, Gradel and now Howson when our club is one of, if not the most profitable outside the Prem. Direct your disgust at the cause, not a player who has been an excellent servant. And yes, whingeing Scumners who have never seen Old Trafford make these kind of comments because they have no clue what their club and proper support is about, so I was really surprised to see your outburst against Captain Marvel, but I'll forgive it as a frustrated action fueled by Papa Smurf's rape of our great club.

Erm, sorry but as we say in Scotland, that is utter pish.
Any selling team can decide the fee is no longer enough, as long as the player has not signed a contract with his new employees. As for Howson, if things are "ok" then it does not take over 3 days to sign, there is clearly something not right, we just don't know what it is. I would suggest another club has woken up to Howson being available and for £2m, they may have decided that they have the funds to offer a bid for the player, this means Leeds can say "not anymore" to Norwich and suggest they up their offer for the player. Who knows, but something is not going smoothly with Howson's move.

BillysStatue, guess I've just been having a bad day, we all get them. Don't want to fall out with you over it, in fact I've always noticed your posts to be excellent.
    Apologies.

well you can all say what you like (and it sounds like some of you have learnt a new word <laugh>) but no team in the history of football has ever agreed a fee with a club, let the player go for a medical, agree terms and THEN change their minds and say you can't have the player UNLESS you pay more money. there would never be any transfers in your haphazard way of dealing with things! leeds are totally within their right to pull the plug on the entire deal before he signs on the dotted line and await a better offer elsewhere but they can't change their mind once they've agreed the fee with the club in question, otherwise all clubs would all do it all the time and the fee could just keep going up and up and up. if someone outbids then thats their prerogative - then it all rolls on form there but it would be down to the player. you can't accept a bid and then tell them you weren't serious! anyway, it seems he has signed and they are just waiting for clearance on the paperwork before confirming the deal

Even more pish...there has been loads of deals that have fallen through due to the selling club deciding more money was required, usually due to another club showing interest and offering more money. No deal is a deal until the signatures are all completed, it is as simple as that. For future reference when a deal "falls through" this is usually when the selling club decides it wants more money.
