I've seen a few clips of him mate and he does look the part in them clips but then I saw some clips of Altidore looking like Pele in the Dutch league when we signed him it's hard to judge players just from internet highlights especially when the highlights are from a relatively low level such as the Dutch league or the U21's. He's clearly got something though and has earned his chance to prove himself in the first team, I just hope he gets his chance sooner rather than later because we need a spark from somewhere and he might be able to provide that.

We have a top finisher in Defoe, so we don't need another, but what we do need is some variation in our attacking play, the current front three have fallen short so far, he has pace and energy to burn, things we lack late on in games, so on that score alone he should be given a chance, an appearance off the bench is long overdue imo.

Aye but official highlights have more credibility than some kid splicing goals together on youtube. There's 3 or 4 in that U21 team that could teach the seniors a thing or two about drive and determination. All our senors have proved is that they're willing to go down with a whimper. Nobody complained when we fast tracked McCLean, despite him being ****e he installed energy and lifted the whole team with determined direct play. Watmore possess these qualities and also has more to his game when McCLean will ever have. Also Nobody complained when Wickham was recalled from his loan and fast tracked. Two of the last three seasons a break through player's effect has saved our arse. People say giving them a chance is risky. I think doing nowt is even more risky.

I've seen not just seen him in highlights, I've seen him play a couple of full games when the U21s has been live streamed(Liverpool and Man U) and he has everything we desperately need. Good enough to play you're old enough to play imo. And this lad has more talent in his little finger than Buckley has in his whole body.

I agree. I'd play him from the off though. He lures players into a false sense of security, He looks dead on his and ****ed then out of nowhere he gets this second wind which terrorizes his opponents.

Start Bridcutt and repace him with Catts after he kicked Charlie Adams for a yellow. Watmore out wide with Wickham and Defoe up front. John O'**** should be back at the SoL polishing the pinkest of the seats...

IF we get anything from the Stoke game I would consider it a miracle.

The only positive I can see is that, particularly the back four and in very particular the two CBs played like fannies against Palace and they need to prove to themselves and others they are not powder puffs. Fletcher owes us as well, it is okay posing in front of your expensive house and car, how about posing in front of goal and scoring some goals to justify your lifestyle!

Our two CBs are as much use as a chocolate fireguard when faced with big/fast strikers.

Our midfield can defend a bit but cannot create anything.

Our strikers cannot score (probably not in the proverbially brothel either) they can pose in front of their expensive car and house.

With perhaps one or two exceptions the players lack pace.

I reckon Gus realised these problems that is why we have played such boring defensive football, to try and avoid a big score against us and nick the odd goal to eke out points and stay up. No manager could make this team fearsome in the Premier League. If by yet another miracle we stay up, unless we spend north of £100m and are lucky in bringing in 5 or 6 players who can walk straight into the starting 11 we are doomed to an excoriating season next year
