Defoe

Why are people including Kaboul in the team, when we know he's not going to be playing for a few months? And why are THudd and Parker on the bench when they are both injured?

I would go for:-

--------------------Lloris----------------------

Walker----Dawson----Vertonghen----Benny

-----Siggy---------Sandro---------Demele----

---Dempsey-----------Ade-----------Bale-----

Bench: Friedel, Naughton, Caulker, Lennon, Townsend, Defoe

I would add, that Sandro is going to have to be extremely disciplined in what ever formation AVB uses, since he'll create a hole behind him every time he strays forward.

I think it's for how we will line up eventually. If for today, Dempsey and Lloris are not eligible anyway.

My team too HIAG, but you're allowed 7 subs so in goes Gallas :azn: Oh and Livermore on the bench instead of Townsend, but maybe in certain games leaving someone out to get him in, not Jake though.

It's a really strong 18, the fear is over the striking position for me. Maybe we can pick up a freebie, I think we are going to regret missing out on Carroll.

Parker was of massive importance to us last season

Lloris

Walker Vertonghen Kaboul BAE

Parker Dembele

Lennon Dempsey Bale

Ade

or

Lloris

Walker Vertonghen Kaboul BAE

Gylfi Parker Dembele

Dempsey Ade Bale

Until Moutinho signs in Jan <whistle>

We simply could not accommodate Carroll in our side, not with the style of football that AVB likes to play.

Maybe not, but he'd be a lot better than Defoe, now there is a donkey when it comes to playing lone striker.

We needed to have got someone in who can play lone striker. If not Carroll, whoever AVB thought could do the job.

I'm grateful we have Dempsey, but Defoe should have been shifted out for someone who does fit AVB's system.

I agree, but it was Levy who wasted time in the market, and he still has not brought in an out-and-out striker in the squad. You cannot blame AVB for not getting rid of Defoe, since he was our only viable striking option, until very late into the transfer window.

Carroll would have been a huge and expensive mistake. I would have hated to have had him in the side. I have never liked it when we have played hoof-ball, and - like it or not - that is the tactic that Carroll is best suited to playing. He will do well at the Spanners, but don't pretend that you'd want us to play the kind of hoof-ball that the Spanners are going to have to play in order to survive in the EPL.

I'd rather see us either stick with the 4-2-3-1, but with a playmaker replacing one of the holding players or revert to the 4-4-1-1, to be honest.
I agree with your inclusion of Dawson, but I think both he and Huddlestone could probably do with playing some reserve or cup games to get their sharpness back.

Next game should see dembele partner Sandro with Dempsey playing off Ade. No other changes needed

Yids Line-up.,
Its a good line-up and worthy of merit for away games, but I can't envisage were our rightful tally of goals will come from. IMO there is over reliance on Adebayer., who always give 100% during games and will always tire towards the end.
Dempsy and Bale might chalk-up a couple goals a season and One might argue that Samdro and Demdele even Kaboul will supply us with a couple goals between them but theirs should be treated as extras and should not be relied upon.
Strickers are a different breed., most need support and partnering. Also Ade tracks back and helps out in some midfield areas which is an admirable trait but then he is not always in the right area, available for the final crossed ball. IMO, Ade needs help within the forward line, he always has done. I think he is seen at his best when playing along side another comparable stricker.
Playing a long Stricker role is demoralising in the EPL and I'm at a total loss as to why teams line up in this fashion (especially at home}. Maybe its a European thing.
Anyhow, I think we need to accommodated another fella up front for home games. We need to be scoring goals.

Well we see things completely different, I love 'hoofball' as you call it, and would love Carroll instead of Defoe in our side. I agree it's not AVB's way, but so far I think AVB is rubbish, and would love to have back the hoofball team of Crouch, Chvers, Gilzean, Bobby smith and so on.

Available team:

Lloris (very harsh on Brad),
Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Ekotto
Sandro, Dembele
Dempsey, Sigurdsson*, Bale
Adebayor

* - Or Lennon to play right wing with Dempsey behind the striker.

Subs: Friedel, Caulker/ Gallas, Naughton, Livermore, Townsend (when is the guy going to get a chance!!!), Lennon, Defoe

Our best team would see Kaboul in for Dawson/ Vertonghen and Parker for Sandro (though I expect Sandro to become No. 1 DM by the end of the season).
