Simple one for me really, born in Newcastle.. spent my entire childhood in Wallsend. A season ticket holder from 5-21 years old. Would never miss a match at SJP even if I felt rough as ****. The day I was born my room was entirely black and white. (The photos when I was older that I seen of my baby room, mad) Curtains, bed, signed framed photos on the wall etc.. I was my dad’s first and only son so he was desperate for me to a part of the toon army. then when me and dad were in a blockbuster shop we bumped into Keegan and he said take after your dad, never give up on the team. Stick with them through the good and the bad. There was never a time even as a youngster where I was into all this glory supporting like some of my mates did. It was Newcastle United or nothing when it comes to football. Hence why I am so ****ing irrational when it comes to us losing one game
Dunno, just sorta happened when I was like, 8-10? I can't even remember how old I was, but I was in Primary School, liked football, watched it and just liked Newcastle the most. It sort of snowballed from there. My family never forced a team on me and they're from all over, so have a spotted support, everyone around me was Liverpool, Everton or Man Utd. That's why I have the habit of calling Man U, "United" cos where I'm from it's what EVERYONE calls Man U
Me Dad was black and white, followed in his footsteps, thank the lord. First game was 1968, Coventry at home, 0-0. First away game, mackems 1970, Newcastle filled the Fullwell end. First season when I went to every home game, 1972, Wolves 2-1 at home, then Sheffield Utd away next game. Newcastle took their end. As a 12 year old, never seen an atmosphere like it and was hooked. 57 grounds and 53 years later, I’ve mellowed a fair bit. Changed a few houses, jobs, a wife, never my team. Newcastle is in my blood. Always will be.
