We're really getting soemwhere here now - and Sam's idea re Disney world in Belfast. What would be really good would be to demolish the whole of Norfolk and turn it into a jungle on the coast. That would be awesome.
It's the veiny bits that do it for me. My snow boabies look like the ones drawn on bus shelters. Actually, my actual boaby looks like this: please log in to view this image
if people cant get jobs, they serve no purpose to society so the only just solution would be to stick them with a pitch fork and throw them onto a bonfire. I firmly believe Lady Thatcher would have resolved this issue by now if she,d been left to continue her magnificent reign
Actually, the idea of a voucher scheme would work quite well. This was the topic of my first presentation at uni. I got 70% on it. What you do is say that each family gets a card onto which their benefit money goes. This card can only be used to buy certain items or services. For instance, pay gas, electricity light and phone bills. Also if the person uses the card to buy children's clothes in primark it allows them, however if they try to use it for designer handbags then it wont work. Or, if they attempt to buy cigarettes with it then it wont work, the same for alcohol. If they want that then they will have to earn the money themselves. Why should they get them on the tax payers penny?? It also simplifies the whole system. It also means that there will be records of what is purchased with benefits and will help to prevent benefit cheats. It also encourages people to get a job and not rely on benefits as they realise that they cannot have their luxuries for nothing any more but have to earn them. What you then say is that if you are on JSA you have to attend at least (X) number of job interviews or hand in (Y) number of applications per month to receive the payments, or else you are not actively seeking a job. It would be similar to the European free movement of people standards where the person must prove that they are actively looking for work and stand a good chance of getting it. For instance if you have only basic GCSE's and a level 2 NVQ you cannot become a Barrister and therefore you cannot include that as seeking a job.
I grew up in a council estate and seen my mates getting sent to the shop to exchange milk tokens for cash, believe me they would find ways to exchange their credits for cash, especially if the local shops were allowed to accept such cards. The only people who would benefit would be the shops which charge a premium for converting the card credit to booze.
I got loads of british friends who want to work where i work but cant as its full of poles. Pisses me off
