How the **** was that only 1-0? - My thoughts on the game

A few points I'd like to ask/make

- What Tash said about Anita Box to Box is so true

- I only caught the second half and on, why was Cisse's substitution booed? Was it a bad sub? I'd like to think it was, just that Ameobi scoring bailed AP out

- How was Jonas? Seriously why is he starting

 

I thought Jonas did ok, others not really liking him again. Worked hard and got Santon into some good positions. His crossing was better, Cisse should have buried one of them but got his timing all wrong. We need another option on that side still. 2nd priority for me after centre back. Marveaux needs to play central and I don't trust Obertan long term.

Cisse sub was booed because many felt Ba should have been sacrificed. Not acceptable to boo that for me and counter productive. I see it as a bit moronic being truthful. Pardew was proved correct and was very good with his subs today. Got the timing spot on and basically won us the game. Both Ameobi and Obertan were excellent (did I really just say that?!) Nothing to do with Shola bailing him out, he just needs credit for good management. Positive signs too in our play in terms of trying to work the ball in more. Unfortunately Ba had a bad day at the office with his hold up play.

Anita is a human dynamo and looks a quality signing. Him, Cabaye and Tiote in tandem should be unbelievably good. Perfect balance.

They were. Our abysmal performance and bizarre negativity following an attacking performance last week doesn't mean they were any good.

 

I see. Thanks, didn't really see much of Jonas so I couldn't tell. All I saw was that he had 1 good cross and gave teh ball away once and that he was taken off very early in the 2nd. As for the Cisse sub, I don't know, I still think Ameobi scoring bailed out what was probably a wrong sub. As you said, if Ba did play worse than Cisse, then I feel that it is unfair to Cisse to take him off instead of Ba, and Shola scoring made this a non-story as we had won.

 

Its about the team first and combinations though. Ba and Shola have more playing time together, therefore it was the more sensible option. If I'd been stood on the sidelines i'd have took Ba off, but thats why we'll never get past football manager and Pardew is actually paid to do it. We're just armchair managers. He deserves full credit for yesterday.

One thing I do know is booing is just a bit pathetic and fairweather. I struggle to understand how any fan can think that helps the team.
