In answer to Obi, the rules of the Premier League are only applicable on becoming a PL club, so they do not have any value, they just simply tick boxes. You get promotion but is there any process to see if you comply with the " rules"? The FA did not set out the wording of the ballot that was conducted, they did not even supervise the ballot.
The rules are clear. The FA has absolute discretion to do what they like. The only question is a legal one, did they breach the rules of natural justice. To me they didn't. They asked our opinion, we gave it. It didn't affect the club in any detrimental way. The OSC could have refused to give evidence to the committee. They could have refused to attend the committee saying they had no remit to hear them. They didn't. As far as the OSC was concerned it was a legitimate process and they willing participated.
I believe that all the ballot papers that were amended by people to say 'No To Hull Tigers but with the Allam's staying in charge' were considered spoiled votes and were not counted, as over 1,000 votes disappeared. That's why the ironically titled Beyond Dispute have never supplied us with the vote details.
We applied as a Premier League club. Assem Allam failed to abide by the rules of the Premier League over the name change application. It is perfectly legitimate for the FA to see if Hull City complied with the rules of the Premier League in making the application. If Hull City didn't consult stakeholders the FA was well within the rights of natural justice to ask their opinion. As far as I remember the FA asked the OSC to hold the ballot but the club wouldn't let them. If you are correct and the FA demanded Hull City to hold the ballot then you're also saying that Ehab lied in his interview with the Hull Daily Mail when he said they always intended to but the timing wasn't right.
Allam will just continue to erase the word City and replace with Tigers on every marketing asset that the club control and that is out of jurisdiction of the FA. This includes the merchandise, the logo, the social websites etc. By doing this, he has made the FA decision irrelevant to the point where the nickname will eventually start creeping into the media vocabulary. The earlier poster referred to the embarrassment of hearing Hull Tigers on the radio when listening to the results if the FA overturns the decision, but as things stand I'm not sure whether Allam will be bothered anymore if the only place that City is referred to is on the radio when the results are being read out. You have to admire him for his tenacity even if you don't agree with the decision or rationale for doing it.
I'm anti anyone or group that says anything that is in my opinion wrong. I am not pro Assam Allam, he is however the clubs owner and it is not me who is two faced it is those that say they want to work with Assem Allam, whilst at the same time call him a ****. You post plenty of negatives about the club you support. Attending meeting on one hand and then reporting the club for its conduct
They didnt disappear they would just be classed as spoiled. ctwd told people not to do that. People who did that are obviously too ****ing dumb and shouldnt have a vote on anything.
Obi, the FA should have funded a ballot. It should have supervised a ballot. but most of all it should have clarified the rules. The recomendations of government are that the traditions and history of football clubs have value and need to be considered, why does the FA need to be told this?
As far as I am aware, the OSC conducted a costly postal ballot, presented the results and re affirmed their position that they represent all supporters of the club, they are/where only mandated to be a supports group with no real alternative role. They are not and could not be anything other than a group that supports the club. It is/was an impossible position to be in with regard to this situation, no matter what happened they could always be portrayed as being in the wrong. CTWD had a clear mandate, to oppose the name change, what is wrong is that they whilst opposing the mandated objective, stated that they wanted to,work with the owners on every other aspect of club business. In my opinion this does not balance. It's a bit like the Socialist Workers movement supporting the CBI in everything other than the minimum wage.
The rules are clear. I would have liked them to be a lot stronger but they are what they are. CTWD read the rules and that's what informed our campaign. There was nothing to stop Assem Allam doing the same. When I first posted on this board I was told we had no chance, the FA would just roll over. The FA did uphold the traditions and history of football clubs, they voted no. I don't see why the FA should have funded the ballot. Assem Allam should have got supporters on side first. To me, that is the intention of the Premier League rules. If you're going to do something major make sure you have the stakeholders on board. Conflict is bad for our brand. However nobody tells Assem Allam how to run his business, not the Premier League nor the FA. I don't see that the FA did anything wrong, either in respect to their rules and in terms of natural justice.
When did CTWD or OLM promise to release the meeting notes which the club wanted to keep secret? How is it their fault that they couldn't? Those notes would only reflect poorly on your dear leader anyway.
Why should the FA of done that? It was upto the club to prove fans wanted/not wanted the change of name.
I had no problem with the position of the OSC and I think (hope) I said that at the time. They were in a difficult position. They could have questioned the procedure though as could the club. It only became a problem for Assem Allam when the committee recommended rejection. Up to then I suspect he thought it would be nodded through. Whether he made any representations at the time should be considered by the Arbitration Panel. Any objections to supporters groups being invited to give evidence would, of course, have included an objection to the OSC being asked. I think if Assem Allam had dropped the name change and invited CTWD to the top table they would have sat down with him and used their contacts for the benefit of the club. I think that's still possible but achieving it would be a lot more difficult.
I'd take a point right now.. but no you haven't gone far enough.. Mr Allam would like to see The Tigers 1 Aston Villa 1
A salient point.. however do the FA have the power to intervene in 'Marketing'? What is sold in the club shop and written on websites isn't the playing name I fear this would only change with a change of owner.. Who incidently would be very popular if he reversed this shameful masquerade
