I must say that I have found the Coronavirus thread to be one of the most informative and interesting off-topic threads for some time. And a lot of credit to our knowledgeable posters who certainly broadened my understanding of some very complex issues. I will definitely be looking forward to the season posts as we get under way though.
Maybe a possible solution is to merge threads into main threads more often. Obviously we shouldn't go overboard with that. But occasionally, people do post threads which could easily have been a simple post in another thread. This is often true for posts about QPR, where someone creates a new thread based on a minor item of QPR news.
I'm not losing any sleep about my data being shared. It's all gone so far now that it's simply part of modern living. More pressing concerns imo.
