If you're referring the the younger generation then it's generally because the people coming on forums in their teens are pretty mature. The immature ones are pretty unlikely to even think about visit a forum. I started on 606 (TigerJames) when I was 15/16 but nobody noticed my age then, at 18 it's the same story.
Not 31 I'm afraid. This could be quite an interesting social experiment though. Can anyone guess my age based on my previous posts?
There's a few that I pretty much knew, either because they'd mentioned their age, or because things they'd posted gave away what generation they were from, but there's a couple of late teens/early twenties that I would have guessed were a fair bit older.

I am indeed an English language student and I'm also called Matt! Perhaps the fact that I study English language has allowed me to write in a manner that would suggest that I am indeed older than I am? But no, I'm not 19 either.
Sorry! I didn't actually notice this post. I am indeed 18 years old. I wonder though, if I had not mentioned that I was an English language student on another thread, would anyone have actually got anywhere near my age? Back to the table of ages though, am I in the relegation zone Febbos? Or am I clinging on for survival?
