How much would YOU sell Defoe for?

Well Everton have just paid 11 million for a young 19 year old from Charlton.
Given this kids only attribute over Defoe is his youthfulness then if our club are even slightly considering selling Defoe then the starting price has to start with a 3 if not a 4.
It makes no sense whatsoever for us to be giving West Hams blatant tapping up of Defoe anything other than a deafening silence. Defoe must stay end of.

 

We all know that. Just think most are wary of Shorts intentions and at what point will he say sell.

 

And if we sell Defoe there may be quite a lot of folk 'walk' and nobody could blame them either.

Technically, Defoe cost us nothing either. In fact he helped us get rid of a liability.
True he is not as prolific as Zlatan who's 13 goals are obviously better than Jermain's 11, (this season so far).

But, and this will probably come as a shock to you, there more to transfers than just the fee.
There's wages.
Zlatan it seems earns over £200K a week which is a tad more than Jermain's relatively paltry £65k

Call me petty by all mean but that's a lot of extra ££££ for jus two more goals, especially from a player who 'cost you nowt'.

I would say for a proven premier league goalscorer who is already in double figures this season the price would be 40-50 milliion. As he is 34 no one is going to pay over 10-12 for him so it's a complete no go. At the end of the day if we go down Defoe can walk away for free which for me is fair enough. In this situation we say thanks Jermain you tried your best but everyone aroind you has been utterly **** so you are leaving on good terms. He can then go to West Ham with no hard feelings whatsoever.

Now if Barcelona or Real Madrid were interested its a different kettle of fish as Defoe would be banging on the door demanding a move. As its West Ham they aren't going to offer a deal that's either beneficial for us or Defoe so they can go and **** themselves.

So do you think any of them would come here?? not for 65k a week and not for any less than about 40m. Anyone else is unproven in the EPL. Even someone like Berahino would never come here and never on the wages we can offer. We can't pay more than about 65k a week because of FFP.

Defoe is irreplaceable right now because all players will see us as a team going down without him. Who wants to spend next season in the championship?

 

Slimani cost Leicester £30m in the summer and he's scored 6 goals in all competitions all season.

That's the kind of player/market we'd end up having to delve into - from a foreign league and completely unproven - replacing Defoe with those figures above wouldn't keep SAFC up this season.

I'm not getting your logic there mate. We lose Defoe and his valuable goals, it'll cost us a lot more than £5m, for sure.

 

Im hearing more and more on various links that Defoe wants this move to happen. That's our main problem! I'm starting to get bad vibes.
An option would be to tell him he can leave in the summer...if he wants to.
