Well, he's about as Scottish as I am Martian, but he does have a cap for them. And no, I did not actually go to school on Mars.
Where is FLT's thread about one game vision... he's a good player, guys, having a great season, an amazing run of form and an incredible game tonight but £6m, are you crazy?!
If someone said they'd pay £6m for him on here before tonight they'd have been laughed out of the place.
Let's not get too carried away here.Yes,he is a very good player,in League 1.Could he replicate his preformances in the championship and premier league?I think so.But he wouldn't be banging in loads of goals in these divisions at the moment,in 2 or 3 years he will,i'm sure aslong as people don't hype him up too much as they do. 10M for him?No chance.
4/5 million! not proven higher so i can't see the fee getting any higher espeically as he is 21.. If he was 16 and banging them in it would be much higher! come on cortese get your checkbook out!
True I still wouldn't pay it tbh. But British players transfer fees are stupidly high. Look at Rodrigues prices quoted for him are stupid also.
Carroll £35m no chance not to mention Chamberlain £15m...football is a crazy business, anything can happen!
Sordell or Rodriguez would cost around £4-5m too - that's the price for young, homegrown strikers in good form. Maynard and Sharp are cheaper because both are older and less likely to improve in the future.
After spending a 2 hours sitting in the rain as Wycombe got destroyed by Rhones really got me thinking the same. Before anyone asks i was in Wycombe seeing some old friends and they love their footy to so we went. Rhones played well but the 5 goals were not that great. 2 were a tap in, 1 came off the Bull and left Rhones with a empty goal but the other 2 were very good. After 60min it was only really the Huddersfield fan left in the stadium and they were in a dream saying they wanted about 10mil for him.
Can you blame them? If we had a player like that we'd want £10m for him. It's madness that Chamberlain went for £15m because he's not worth near that, but he was to us. Just look at it this way - most teams are established enough without him. We don't need him to prosper, he'd be a very good signing but by no means a necessary one. But think about how much weaker Huddersfield would look without him - that's where his value comes from.
Sharp did rip up League 1...he had 30 goals in 45 league games, at age 21. Of course, at the same age Rhodes has 25 goals in 21 games, and he's going to shatter the League 1 scoring records. People can talk all they want about how it's a lower league, but there've been plenty of good players in that league, and none in recent years have put together the sort of goal-scoring tally that he has. It's going to take to take £5m+, with significant add-ons, and perhaps a fair bit more than that.
I'd be gutted if we spent anything over £3m on someone like Rhodes. Good player without doubt but he's in League One! This is part of the problem with football - it's inflation is treated a totally separate entity to real world inflation. £6m on a third division player... bizarre. I'm not justifying any transfer fees in the modern day at any level either; the thought of £86m being spent on a football player quite frankly disgusts me no matter how much I love the game. Get some perspective guys, thankfully I think Nigel and Nicola do.
