Can you explain more about the payment then. Did they have the cash or where they doing a Bartlett type deal?
I don't know the details of the payment arrangements, they were never passed to me, as they were never at issue and were none of my business.
Then you cant know that it was such a good deal for the Allams then and they should have taken it. Its easy to paint the Allams as the bad guys all the time but it does not help the situation. I think Obi's right. They wouldnt enter into negotiations with buyers if they didnt want to sell. The ball is in Grieve's court. Why isnt he renewing his offer? The swansea deal took a year to go through, it seems this one was a matter of weeks. I'd be suspicious of a deal like that. I'd also be suspicious of someone high up in the Grieve side who's feeding info to people on a forum trying to influence the situation and turn the screw. A terrible ploy, especially with the Allams. So a bid of £106 million (?? i assume) gets the club. Its out there. Surely Grieve can raise that little bit extra or another interested buyer.
Grieve and that consortium had been interested since last December by all reports. That's what, 8 months?
The only person claiming there might have been an issue with the payment terms is Obi and he made it up. A deal was originally agreed in early May, it's since been unagreed and reagreed twice, there's a limit to how often you can **** about a load of wealthy people spending this much money, before they say 'you know what, you're just jerking me around, I've had enough'. You're welcome to believe anything you like, but I'm happy I know what went on and who is to blame.
Christ, are we already hopping for Assam's return? That's how bad it it now, never mind how bad it could get.
this season will be awesome on so many levels .. strap yourselves in guys and gals , time for one hell of a ride
aw cmon you pessimistic ****s............ we will be fine we wont get relegated like we would be under SB
I didn't make it up. Burns put it in two of his tweets. After what Bartlett did to this club I have an issue with someone buying us on the never-never.
Where did your information come from - someone involved with the American consortium or someone involved with the Allam's?
Which is what this would have been. All this does is show we are up for sale. They do want out. We just need a solid bidder with the funds to buy us.
As Burnsy has now tweeted that it was an £80m cash offer, I'm assuming Obi will revise his opinion, as it seems a tweet from Burnsy is all it takes.
A bit more water has flowed under the bridge since then. Besides, Bartlett paid cash/cheque/bank transfer to Adam Pearson. The important question is not whether its in a bank but where did the £80 million come from and does it have to be repaid.
No, the important question is why wasn't £80m enough? He gets all his money back, he's had over £20m in interest and group tax benefits and he could walk away with no aggravation and a decent return.
