How much the Allams have spent to get us where we are now

Yes I can. The £40 million was owed to the Allams there was no demand for immediate payment. He had another £40 million in cash ready to spend and he gave it to Steve Bruce. Nick Barmby wanted to build a team without breaking the bank. He was sacked because he wouldn't spend Assem's money.

Assem Allam had a choice, nobody was breathing down his neck demanding repayment. He could have taken the Burnley or West Bromwich Albion route. A route preferred by both Adam Pearson and Nick Barmby. No wonder they didn't last long.

remember the bit about Brucie spending £40 million and getting us relegated - we're in the mess because of the soft **** trying to get maximum exposure for his son rather than ensuring we stayed in the EPL

The Adam Pearson who said he couldn't take it any further as he didn't have the necessary cash to do it. Right.
Glad to see nicks put all his brilliant coaching to good effect too. Never looked back.
So they should have sat there while the debts built up waiting patiently for nick to forge a team, from what exactly? Oh you would have wanted them to build a state of the art training complex too? With their money obviously as there's no money in the championship. That's why they're all in debt.
Then we could wait five years but still have to rely on loans and freebies.. oh no wait you want them to buy players too.

Burnley built their facilities after getting promoted and relegated using the profits they'd made. Seems a sensible way of doing things to me.

Burnley didn't need either Pearson or Barmby to achieve what they did. They found the managers and players to achieve what they wanted without breaking the bank. Same with West Bromwich Albion.

Allam could quite easily have said to Pearson and Barmby, thanks for the advice but I don't think you're up to the job of spending my £40 million plus the parachute payments, I'm going to pick somebody who is. They picked Steve Bruce who gave them what they wanted, a fast track to success built on no foundations.

We didn't have to rely on loans and freebies he had £40 million in the bank waiting to be spent. He gave it to Steve Bruce and half a billion pounds later we have our current manager and team.

I'm not bothered if they doesn't spend another penny on the team. The sooner the debt is paid off the sooner they go.

Again all so easy. Can't understand why Adam and his backer left. Piece of piss this ownership lark. You should go into the football consultancy business.

Like I said it requires a good eye at spotting managerial talent, players that can play as a team and be successful and last but not least the discipline to keep a tight rein on the finances. Like you said there are plenty of examples were club owners have spent, spent, spent and not thought about the consequences.

Not many have the ability to follow West Bromwich Albion and Burnley. Definitely not the Allams, they just joined a long list of owners of clubs that got dizzy with success and paid the price.

Both clubs quoted also had local owners, as did Swansea. Where will we find one of them?
Because any overseas investors certainly wont be doing it for altruistic reasons.
