We need to keep him even if Arsenal do become interested in him. If we are serious about improving we need to show some ambition and keep our best players.
£25m might be fair price now, but you need to add 70% to it if TV money is going up by that much. If we are selling to an elite club then we should be taking them to the cleaners.
That's not a very good poll. What if I thought he was worth £19m or £40.5m? Sloppy work if you ask me.
Think we are maybe getting ahead of ourselves here. If we want to keep Wijnaldum we need to avoid relegation. Looks like Ashley has realised the value of staying in the Premier League so don't think he would even consider a bid for Wijnaldum in this window.
I don't think anyone can safely predict what Ashley would do. That is without discussing the small matter of what Gini wants to do. Players decide these days. So while valuing him is one thing, if Gini decides he wants to play at a top club you won't be able to stop him. It will simply be a mater of someone offering Ashley the right fee whether that is 25m or 40m. He might want to reject it and build, but the player could just force his hand.
This thread saddens me. The fact that everyone now accepts that we will never hold-on to our best players and it all seems so matter of fact. Ashley wins.
The only way to fix that is to become the sort of team that these players want a move to. I suspect with most of our big transfers out it has had as much to do with the players wanting to play for a better club as much as anyone wanting to cash in.
