Laudrup second for me, after Tosh (from the Fourth Division to 6th place in the First Division; European Cup Winners Cup matches) - but a close call either way <cheers>

I'm a big fan of Toshack's, going back to his Cardiff days.
He wasn't the greatest player but there was something about him. Liverpool thought so as well.
His arrival at The Vetch saw a dramatic rise in the Club's fortunes, something started by the late Harry Griffiths.
The Toshack years were fantastic, and he is justifiably held in the highest esteem.
Fortunately, I was working abroad, in a remote part of Thailand, so missed the tail end of The Swans' 1st Division stay, and Toshs' subsequent demise.

Perhaps it's fairer to consider Tosh as the best pre Premier League, and Laudrup for the actual Premier League era.

Whatever, they are both worthy to top the "best" list, jointly, and I am more than happy to propose that. Others will disagree, and that's fine. This is an open Forum after all.

Someone should tell Dai, perhaps. But would he listen ? <laugh><cheers>

    Toshack - sacked

    Monk - Sacked

    Laudrup - Sacked

    Guidolin - Sacked

    Bradley - Sacked

Seems to be an occupational hazard if you're a football manager...

The world of professional football, particularly the Premier League is now so unforgiving towards Managers, the popular belief is that they are all just 5 or 6 matches away from the sack.
Koeman should start to worry. Clement not yet, unless his team loses to Reading, Watford, West Ham and Huddersfield.
If that scenario comes to fruition, he could well be gone.

All the way from lower divisions to now we had the likes of Trundle, Pratley, Scotland, Ash, Leon, Sinclair, Michu, Allen, Bony, Sigursson, Lloriente. We always had players capable of great things, players with that x-factor who could drive the club on.

As these players moved on we replaced them with like for like talent or improvements. From one year to the next our squad became stronger and our players became better. We made some mistakes but when your prospecting sometimes the rough diamond you've mind has a flaw.

This is the first year where we've sold off our top players and not adequately replaced the loss to the squad.

This means that we no longer have the personnel to play the passing game we want or an expansive, entertaining style if we want to change things up. We have no one in the squad who can run onto the pitch and cause havoc or even be the slightest of threats to the opposition. The only hope we have of scoring goals will be from oppositions mistakes or defensive errors because we have no killer instinct anywhere on the pitch, no player with any flair or creativity so we wont be able to make our own chances so we'll be relying on opposition errors. .

Our new owners have extracted all of the value and subsequent talent from the squad and replaced it with dross and a couple of rentals. To get through this season we have a wafer thin shell of a squad where only a few players are good enough to play in the premiership.

Ask yourself, if this years first team was able to go back in time and play last years first team, or the year before that, how far back in time would they have to travel before they won a game? Back to Monks era? Laudrups? I reckon they'd have to go all the way back to Kenny Jackets team before they'd win a game.

That's why I'm so pissed off Breezie.

Hope Koeman doesn't get sacked Libby, where do think Everton will go looking if they did sack him? Cant say for sure but I'd bet Tobes would be gloating on our forum again.

Reading an Everton Forum yesterday evening, it seems that they are not too happy with their purchases from us - they don't want to get any one from us in a hurry.... <laugh>

    Here's one example

"I was battered by a lot of you in the summer for saying that he isn't good enough for us.

He is slow, predictable and offers absolutely nothing.

Big player at Swansea, sure. So was Williams. Not. Good. Enough!"

Bigger fool us for selling them when we needed them ourselves, We give the impression we are a feeder club to all and sundry.......We have gone from a good club that could match anyone on the day to a club That loves to sell it's best players even before recruiting cover good enough to take their place.... What has gone wrong Jenkins? It is not that long ago you said we dont need to sell anyone !! but you did it anyway.....
