2nd article of the day...I'm on fire!

Basically, after 2 new contracts being signed, and the manager coming out and saying Ashley doesn't want to put any more of his OWN cash into the club, how much of this £35m do you think we'll have for new signings?

Tiote is reportedly on £50k/w - 50x52x6.5= £17m
Carver (i'm guessing £5k/w...Hughton was on about this as full time manager) - £1.5m

Now let's hope we can offer Barton that 2 year extension and Enrique another 4 years, making it a 5.5 year deal...

Barton: 50kx52x2= 6.5m
Enrique: (let's guess 50k also) 50x52x5.5= £14.5

All together that adds up to a pretty staggering aprox. £39.5m. Granted this will not all be paid out at once, TV Revenue, league position, cup runs, player sales and contract termination (Smith on 70k, Xisco on 50k) will free up the cash needed...

BUT

Surely Ashley will want to lay aside a pretty hefty whack of the Carroll cash for contracts? Also, If I remember rightly he was appalled by the way our contracts and payments for players like Owen worked (i.e. paying for them over something stupid like 10 years etc.) so he wont want to take a chance like that with new signings and will want clear revenue streams marked out for the payment of potential signings...

This is not an anti-Ashley article, this is not here to put a dampener on what can only be seen as 2 bits of amazing news...This is simply asking for your opinion, on what percentage of Carroll cash you think Ashley will put towards contracts for current employees?
 
Any player we do sign will also demand a wage, thus further adding to the cost of running the club.

For this reason, I don't think that wages should really be considered when spending the £35m from the sale of AC. Revenue from TV rights, sponsorship e.t.c. covers these costs which means they are negligible, we should therefore in theory have a lump sum of £35m to spend.

Wage increases are a different thing however. Signing Enrique and Tiote up to new contracts may demand more of the club's revenue. If for instance Enrique is costing the club a further £20k per week and maybe Tiote the same (guess work here, no idea of the real figures), then the club is spending a further £10m over the course of the next 5 years.

For that reason, I think we will realistically expect to spend about £25m in the summer.
 
We'l not see all of the 35m go on transfers for the reasons you've said but im confident we'l see enough of it.
 
We don't really need £35 million if we don't sell any star players. I think £20 - £30 million would do, with a sizeable chunk going to the improvement of our strikers. If we can sell Smith and Xisco that will free up the wages in order to extend contracts of other players like Tiote and Enrique.

Lets say Smith and Xisco's wages combined are £100k. Tiote has probably received an additional £25k and Jose can get an additional £20k. Therefore we make a saving of say £70k a week, this is presuming Barton also takes a pay cut as has been mentioned. We will be offering £30k a week presumably for any new players we sign, therefore, once you take into consideration TV fees, revenue from merchandise and tickets, I think most the money will go on transfers, but as mentioned we don't need major surgery, just a small tweak here and there. Lets hope the futures bright and that Jose and Joey can see the light and sign up ASAP, so happy today!
