I think that it would take about £5m to get out of this league taking into account wages and transfer fees Swansea did it on less than £2m and so did Blackpool so we have a chance but what we do need is a chairman who knows the club not a milk maid

In my view we need little strengthening, maybe a cb and lb (Connolly done a decent job at RB and Paddy Kisnorbo at CB), we certainly don't need a new cf or winger. Ramon Nunez, Lloyd Sam or Aidy White will take over where Gradel left, we already have enough strikers, Luciano Becchio and Davide Somma when they come back from injury, Ross McCormack has been good already for us this season, and Billy Paynter hopefully can pick up his form with Swindon where he was scoring 29 goals in league 1 (more than Beckfords 25 league goals), the only striker i'd buy is Andy Keogh, Wolves want to get rid of him, he has a terrific work rate and he may not score as many goals as others but with a good striker partner he can set up and create the goals we need, just like he did with Billy Sharp at Scunthorpe. I'd think Wolves would accept a bid of 500-750k considering the fact they have Fletcher, Doyle, Vokes ect and while he's on their books he's a waste of wages.

Agree with the above but White or Sam isnt really an improvement on Gradel is it? Or they surely would have started over him, dont get me wrong I'm a fan of both players <ok>

Also I wouldnt play Nunez on the wing, I think he is more of an attacking midfielder. We will also miss the ammount Gradel tracked back as well which could make any left backs job that gets the nod for us from now on significantly harder.

I think Lloyd Sam was pretty good at the start of last season with goals against Millwall and Forest, if he played like that this season I think he would be a good edition to the team, apparently Aidy White was great for Oldham in the first half of his loan and was capable of making magic but towards the end he started to lose that and blended into the team more according to the Oldham fans, he's still young and will improve alot. I think he is currently at lower championship, league one promotion contenders level but as I said he is still young and will improve alot.

I heard a Nunez interview where he claimed to prefer been on the left side, and also he was mainly played as a left winger during his impressive loan spell Scunthorpe. But as you said we'd need to buy a real good left back because Nunez can't defend for his life.

Guess it depends on if you mean investment wage wise or signings. If we had offered Gradel decent wages at the end of last season and brought in someone like Andrews over Brown it really would have been a case of 2 defenders and we could and should be challenging. I would say ramp up the wages through the team when and where needed 1.5 million and possibly two defenders another 2.5 million between them with a further 1.5 to 2 million set by for a new year push and spend if required.
