Ha, Ha. Like most people from Lincoln / Lincolnshire we travel South, West & East most of the time and Northern journeys are a rarity. Most journeys from this are a of the county at least are across to Nottingham/Newark or the commute down South for those who want to work in the 'big smoke' yet live in peace and tranquility Nice try though, I remember the D2 days of Hull fans coming to Lincoln to smash the place and it's people up.
I do remember one game where a load of City fans were prevented from attending a game and were herded to a pub to listen to the game on the radio and proceeded to smash the place up. Though from what I heard, I was about due a refurb anyway.
I'm making the journey hoping to see our boys pull the Tigers teeth. I don't consider myself to be too bigoted except towards our nearest neighbours to the East who I don't tolerate (everyone else get's a chance). Wifey and I will be in the Brickmakers before the game and will willingly accept a drink from anyone who wants to engage in conversation.
Anyone know if away fans we'll be able to buy tickets on the night? EDIT: Just seen on the website that we can.
Indeed, my comments are very 'tongue in cheek' as you can probably summise. All clubs have their fair share of idiot fans. Maybe Lincoln have a higher ratio??? Worst thing I ever saw was when attending that fateful day at Bradford City and watching many fools from this beautiful City cheering and 'celebrating' at the happenings. Even worse included in the victims of that day were 2 of their own and one stand at Sincil Bank remembers them, named the Stacey West Stand after them both. TBH I've never been to Hull more due to being chased down the 'exit' streets from Sincil Bank by a hungry mob when I was 12. There were only 3 of us but I guess an easy target. I also had a narrow escape down the same street as a 18-19 year old. Can't remember whether it was Doncaster or Mansfield but 200 chasing scares the living daylights out of you and it was an arranged 'event' as when they reached the end of the street They were met by an ambush equal or greater in size and the High street was closed for several hours as bottles and anything else flew wildly around. We escaped by less than 30 yards from being caught up in that, and it reminds me of how tribal and stupid football can be at times. It was pretty much like the scenes in the film 'football factory' except it wasn't discreet, it was right in the busiest street in the City and the Police although well aware were not prepared to deal with those kind of numbers. Anyways, good luck to you guys just hopefully not on your next outing.
You'll be pretty safe now, the days of chasing people up and down Anlaby Road are now long gone. Someone should point this out to the gobby 18 year oiks from Millwall.
I remember being chased through the backstreets after we played the Tigers in 1968ish. F.A. cup. I was "dressed" in a red and white Dalek suit and paraded to the ground doing my best "we will exterminate Hull City" in a Dalek voice. We lost, 1-0 I think. What surprised me most was the almost indifferent attitude of my Hull relatives, 'spose it's the rugby thing.
Frankly mate, anyone dressed as a dalek at a football match deserves a slap. I think if we lose tomorrow, you can expect the tiger nation to be anything but indifferent. What's this rugby you refer to, I've never heard of it?
i think your question was answered on our board, but just to educate you local matters, Hull is a rugby team and play in black and white. Hull CITY is a football team and play in black and amber. Don't confuse the two locally because if you ask: "where is the Hull match" locally, you will find that they played last Sunday and thrashed Widnes by 50 odd points in the Super League.
Yep I'm going ....driving up leaving around midday ish almost a 600 mile round trip for me. God knows what time i am going to get home in the early hours of tomorrow morning!
Imagine asking someone for the Hull score and being told they won 35 nil....the shock would probably finish me
Welcome to my world. I do similar for home matches. Long journeys home after winning are brilliant so hope you have a good journey home!
Thank you for educating me, though I think on a thread about a football match between Hull City Football Club and Southampton Football Club, the majority would know to whom I am speaking to when I address 'Hull fans'.
