Eboue, when he's not bundling over players in our penalty area in the 102nd minute is actually a good player.
On the other hand it is widely seen as a fact that teams are better with their best players. Man u haven't been as good since Ronaldo left, you haven't been as good since Alonso left, Newcastle haven't been as good since Carroll left, Sunderland haven't been as good since Bent left etc.
Arsenal would be weaker without Fabregas, there can't really be any argument about that. But if he is determined to leave in the next few seasons, then we need to make sure Barca pay through the nose.
My point was sometimes you can improve your team by selling one for lots and getting in a couple for the same amount. Say if you got rid of Fabregas for ã20m + Mascherano, then you could use that ã20m to strengthen other areas, like using it to buy Gary Cahill and Benzema for example.
IMO you still need a striker that can actually play for a good chunk of the season, Van Persie is a top striker but he gets long term injuries every season, he just cannot be relied on.
That's been one of our biggest problems. On his day RVP is unstoppable, but those days have been too far and few between
Yeah but losing your best player can go both ways. I think we all agree with you that RvP cannot be relied upon despite how good he is.
