I'm up at 06:45 every saturday to listen on Ipswich Player JWM. It's really early to be going through the emotional rollercoaster of being a Town supporter and sets the tone for my day. I remember the Norwich game from a couple of years ago. A 12:30 kick off meant I had to get up at 04:15am. I don't do that for most lunch time kick offs though it has to be said. Imagine how annoyed I was already after that match, and the sun hadn't even come up yet.
I was in London for that one and my girlfriend at the time got the hotel to put the game on their big widescreen TV in reception. Made it all the worse!
I was advertising the fact by having a couple of chairs set up in front of it and gradually sinking more and more deeply into it
Hoppers, i think that by the time we are back in europe i shall be long gone! On the subject of seeing kids in their town shirts, their are two girls in the cordoba region of Spain that wear Ipswich shirts with pride!
My boy is a United fan, he is also a Town season ticket holder (apparently we are his 2nd team)He has been a United fan ever since he could kick a ball & yes I say fan as I have taken him to see them play around 10 times over the past few years. He has had a United shirt every season I can remember...until this year, he asked if he could have the new Town shirt this time...I keep telling myself that it is because he is slowly getting converted, other than the fact that he does not like United's new kit. On a more serious note I also think he is now reaching the age when it is ok to support your local team.....even if they are gash..!
I have to admit I supported Liverpool in the eighties. I had an Ipswich Town lampshade and a Liverpool duvet cover, strange child.
I'm down in Cornwall now so games are at a premium for me. I've converted the eldest and we're off to Cardiff & Brizzle away in January. Reading would be nice but Fortress PR is the preference for next year. 3 kids and living 400 miles away is a bit of a killer but the surf is **** in Felixstowe so it's not all bad
I've bin watching town every season from the age of 5. 25Yrs later I'm still a season ticket holder. I've enjoyed the highs n lows in that time. John Duncan demo on the pitch comes to mind as an early memory lol. I've also travelled to over 35different grounds some on more than one occasion. I was also lucky enough to be a masscot for the fa cup game against Liverpool when Johnny wark hit the cross bar. Coyb still pro Jewell but need Evans to put hand in pocket. Only spent 300k
Only when i can nowadays, work and family commitments. Went to a game once with the now Mrs Guru, she said she has never been as embarrassed in her life as that day by my singing and the way i got wound up! They will never understand. Blue Monkey what part of Cornwall are you, Absolutly love down there, we normally go down once a year to either Holywell/Crantock. Next year we are going down for a couple of weeks staying near Fistral Beach and then moving down to St Just.
