It's a big ask to expect anything from this fixture, but "it's a funny old game" sometimes,so we will have to wait and see.I just hope we don't freeze, and get a walloping.

Really enjoyed the Guardian article.Nice stroll down memory lane.I didn't know that Shankly used to give pre match inspiration. What a man he was.

If Swansea sit back they will get hammered
The way to play city is to close us down and stop us playing
Very few teams play the everton way against us

Surely "close us down and stop us playing" is the way to play ALL teams, not just Man City.

If we lose to the rags on Sunday you could be in for the back lash, so if that happens I would expect us to win by 5/6 clear goals to nil. If both Tevez and Aguero play we may well hit you with double figures.

Dream on if you win you will bevery lucky, more likely that you will get a tonking by 4/5 to nil. If from what I have read of some of the comments your fans have really got to come from out of those clouds. This league will punish clubs like yours if you just avoid relegation your club will be lucky.

So we're supposed to play awesome football, get promoted off the back of that and then immediately claim we're going to get trounced 5-0 in the first game? That probably happened 30 years ago, and look what happened to Mighty Leeds!

Not going to happen man, we're full of confidence for a fairly good reason, and I don't see us rolling over for anyone.

I will have to take your word for that, I think Tevez is being a little discourteous saying we are going to beat you by a double figure score but i honestly think we will beat you by a margin of 2 goals.

That's fair, given the amount of talent you have at your disposal, and it'll probably be the bookies odds on scoreline I'd imagine? I try to stay away from betting sites due to lack of self-control so I can't substantiate that claim :p Our style of football was markedly different from most of the teams in the Championship, and has been since Roberto Martinez took charge a few years ago. The way we play has been well documented so a start away at you boys is the perfect test really. Everyone is hoping we can knock the ball around a bit, but I'd take a gritty defensive performance and a 0-0 draw and I'd have a massive grin on my face!

Saying we're going to lose 10-0 is ridiculous though! (I'm aware this could, possibly, on a one in a million punt make me look like a twat) We've got every reason to hope for an upset, as much as you've got every reason to hope for a game where you outclass us and put a few goals past us.

We'll lose the opener for sure. Very difficult to counter these teams that are bought with foreign money a la Chelski. How fans can still identify with these teams and their millionaire players I don't know. But I'm hopeful we can put on a decent show of football, stay true to our principles and give a good account of ourselves. If it's 2-0 and we play well I'll be happy.

So you only see yourselves struggling against teams bought with foreign money do you ?

Its easy to take the piss when you know your team will never be approached by anyone wanting to take your club to the top of the PL and get you into the CL.

Which one would you chose -

scenario 1 ] You are proud of your team even though its been mid table for longer than you care to remember and the top 4 have been the same teams for the same amount of time.

Scenario 2 ] The team you have supported for years through thick and thin are bought by a rich owner and within a couple of seasons you are in the top 4 of the PL and in the CL, being a fan has never been more exciting and you can now put in a serious challenge and knock you rivals off the top spot.

Hit The Road so what your saying is that if a wealthy benefactor comes and takes over Swansea you will give it all up because that is not the way it should be. Do me a favour you will be over the moon that that has happened.

While I can't say I know what I'd do in that situation, I can honestly say I'm glad it hasn't happened to my club, and I love the way the club is being run responsibly and sustainably...

Honestly. Call me a liar if you want but I'm not fibbing. We almost went bust, and as a kid with a season ticket watching that it was horrific, so to now be in the Premiership on the back of solid passing football, with a team of directors and a chairman who love the club, really is my idea of football heaven. For me, if a big investor wanted to come in, unless I was convinced he loved the Swans as much as the current set-up I'd hope he'd be told to get stuffed if his plan was to make a quick buck.

Whether that would be the case remains to be seen, but as it stands I'm so excited by the future of the Swans it's mad. We aren't breaking the bank so if we do go down, we'll be better catered for in terms of finance and playing staff than we have been in my lifetime so I'd expect us to mount a promotion challenge straight away (barring a catastrophic loss of players).

Sorry to go on a ramble, but I really don't like the foreign investor thing. Each to their own and I get it, it's fantastic to be up the top and be signing big name players, you guys must be in dreamland. I just fear for the opposite scenario where the money dries up and the club is left high and dry. If you're a big club the different bodies in control of such things seem to have a knack of making sure clubs don't really fold when the money men walk out on massive debts...but someone has to be the first, and the current financial model a lot of clubs are operating on is unsustainable.

Well said, Scott. Not suggesting it will happen at Man City but with these new regs coming into force, combined with the recession, a big name (or two or three) is going to go to the wall in the not too distant future.

We will probably never be top six even if we get a foothold in the Premiership but we know we shall always have a club to support.

And you are entitled to your opinion, you may feel differently once you have tasted life in the PL failed like Blackpool go back into the Championship and have your better players taken from you, not saying this will happen but if it did and an investor approached you you may think differently.
