Vietnam bor, don't reprove yourself for asking a pertinent question. It was on your mind so you have the right to express it. Personally as CH has a three year contract I prefer to wait until his contract comes up for renewal before passing judgment on his stewardship. Taking over from Lambert was a daunting task for any manager, CH fulfilled his remit last season to keep us in the PL. This year I anticipate it to be one of entrenchment, next season I'm hopeful of even greater achievement from him. No two managers offer the same approach to football, CH is more inclined to adopt a more cautious approach then his predecessor. Time will tell if it is the correct path. One comment I would like to make and it doesn't involve the manager. Our black and white away kit. As stated on MoTD the PL is viewed globally, we are unique in that we are the only team to play in green and yellow, we are instantly recognisable due to those colours. There is no need for our kit to change to any other colours. If we have to have a different strip for away games then it should be a different combination of our green and yellow. An all dark green strip with yellow piping would be far more preferable than the current abysmal strip which in my estimation would look better in a funeral parlour.
I thought against Saints we were really pushing forward, the play was a bit more defensive towards the end of the match though. I would have preferred us to try and get a second as opposed to defend the one goal. It will be interesting to see if we push forward more against Spurs, I wonder if he will be more cautious in away games.
What people have got to recognise is we are playing spurs next and, by god, have you seen the players they have bought. If we go out to frustrate them and nick a point based on the money they've spent I'm happy with that. We have to take our chances and playing defensively away from home against the big boys is not a crime. I seem to remember Paul lambert, the worlds most amazing attacking manager going with 5 at the back against Chelsea in his premier league campaign.
Actually, it's not games like Spurs away that I'm worried about. We beat them last year in the League Cup (rather fortuitously I'm led to believe, although I didn't see the game here in HCMC), and we outplayed them in both league games (which I could watch on TV) and were a little unlucky not to win both games. What worries me is how we set up against Hull, Stoke, Wigan, etc away from home. But the home games so far have looked much more positive than for the second half of last season, so let's hope that starts to feed through to winnable away games.
Norkie, agree 100% about that awful away kit. I'm also told (I know nothing about this stuff) that in modern brand marketing consistency of message/image is vital. So, since we have such a unique set of colours why don't we just stick to them? I also think (as someone else pointed out on here, can't remember who) that there would be a benefit in terms of our play since our players would be much more likely to pick out their colleagues with their peripheral vision if they are looking for yellow and green.
Have to agree with Beefy, until this kit, my favourite has always been black, but I love our new away kit!
Agree with this, I'm still concerned that Hughton still appears to regard us as one of the weakest teams in the division and that therefore any point is a good point.
Respect the opposition but there is nothing wrong with having confidence in our ability, technically we're capable of beating every team in the league it's just about how we go about it, all the clubs around the same level as us and the newly promoted are beatable.
Precisely and I'll be buying mine next week (already have the new home shirt) I don't know where it is stipulated but teams have to wear their their away strip on at least 5 occasions each season!!!
It's all just a question of preparation. You can't slack on any game or you will be punished. All the teams in the league are strong on their day so no room for complacency.
Spot on. The question should always be asked and then dismissed relative to how reasonable it is. Even Ferguson had the question asked when he finished third (!) then they realised it was madness. Usually it's madness because there is nobody better. If somebody better placed comes available and the price is right, I have every faith that McNally &co. will seize that moment. Currently there is no-one.
I think it is a contractual situation with the shirt makers. They obviously want to sell as many as possible so need it to be shown to the fans.
are people really moaning about our away kit? kind of typifies my statement that some norwich fans will 'moan for the sake of moaning'...
I don't like it. Simple as that. It doesn't mean I'm 'moaning'. I just think we have distinctive colours (yellow and green) and we should stick to them.
What would you have chosen then?, one of our kits when we started out?, blue and white?: http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Norwich_City/Norwich_City.htm Mind you the current away strip does remind me of the kit from 1923-1926,
football league and premier league rules stipulate that away colours have to 'differentiate effectively' from home colours. no matter what the away kit looks like, it only gets used five times a year. i happen to think the current away kit is the nicest we've had for at least a decade. traditionally our away kit has been white. that's what it is now. you are moaning
We're all entitled to our opinion and doesn't have to be viewed as moaning. I expect you's prefer to see something similar to our away kit of 2011-2012 I think it was.
If we are contractually obliged to have a different away kit for five games a year, I would personally prefer a dark green kit with some yellow included. My more general point is that people are not allowed to have ANY kind of idea that is not part of the officially approved party line. It is like being surrounded by daleks. Independent thought - exterminate! Negative opinions - exterminate! Anything which could not be turned into a song by the Carpenters - exterminate!
